From Shop to Salon: Inside a 3-Week Renovation
With my dream of renovating a space remaining just that for now (a dream), I’ve made the choice to live vicariously through other creatives doing the hard yards themselves! In this post I’m showcasing the reno of White Gold Boutique in Brissy; a space that went from corner store to chic salon in just three weeks!
The work of Teneriffe couple Anna Patterson and Matt Stewart, the heritage-listed building the salon now sits within was an opportunity too good to pass up, and made the vision they had for the space easier to realise.
Containing an original and working fireplace and with plenty of open space, the team had to get creative with the floor plan, splitting the salon in different zones to ensure it didn’t resemble a typical salon.
BEFORE THE RENOVATION
DURING THE RENOVATION
AND NOW FOR THE AFTER!
The team describe the end result as being “somewhere between the minimalist lines of contemporary salon design and the old-world charm of parisian chic”, adding that in the short three-week renovation period, a lot of the work was completed by them.
“We made the most of every spare second we had,” Matt says. “We designed and built the entire fit-out ourselves. Only the plumbing and electrical work was handed to the professional tradesman”.
Everything from new walls, shelving, painting, and the final fit-out details were handled by Anna and Matt, resulting in a completed salon that feels like a gorgeous mix of old and new.
“We literally lived and breathed that salon for the entire three weeks, and could not be more proud of the end result”.
I must say that I think Anna and Matt have excelled in this renovation. Taking a bare space and non existent floor plan and transforming it into the salon you see in these pictures is nothing short of extraordinary! What do you think?
