A Little Indulgence at Sparkle Cupcakery

Sparkle Cupcakery - Apple and Cinnamon Muffin

It’s safe to say that I’m addicted to sugar. If I didn’t run regularly I’m not sure in what state my body would be in (actually, a pretty blissful one). In any event, I was delighted to pop into the wonder that is Sparkle Cupcakery at the weekend and finally try one of their fantastic cupcake creations. I’m going to keep it real and admit that they’re going to be a staple in my diet from here on in because they’re that good. And on a sidenote, I will need to run more.

Deciding on which flavour to devour was probably the most challenging part of the experience, because there are 15 stunning varieties to choose from. I did, however, finally settled on a delicious Morning Glory; cinnamon with a hint of apple. It married perfectly with my cappuccino and made for a gorgeous little treat by the window as I watched the world go by. Can you see me having a movie-moment epiphany on the left about how my life was so very empty before I met these cupcakes?! Because that’s what was going down.

What surprised me the most was that these cupcakes – made and finished completely by hand, of course – didn’t have the sickly, rich aftertaste that so many cupcakes have. I put it down to the fact that they use high quality ingredients. That, or they have a secret recipe like the Colonel does and they’re not willing to share it. Either way, the result is pure heaven.

  • You must go back and try the Salted Caramel flavour. It’s amazing! A light and fluffy cupcake with a gooey salted caramel suprise injected in the middle x

    • ooh really? Ok – locked and loaded. It’s my mission now to pop in each week and try a different flavour. The milk chocolate one also looked a little to die for!

  • If you’re going to visit every week I think we’re going to have to up our running distances! I can understand the desire though – I love this place!

    • haha I know, the runs need to extend to 10km at least – because I need to try every flavour!

  • I just LOVE it there! I haven’t been for a very long time, and you may have just inspired me to go again!

    Lovely photographs!

PS – I was surprised by the green tea flavour, it was delicious and not something I would normally order!

    • Thanks for the kind words – and yes – you have to go back! I noticed the green tea one and thought.. it’s not my usual vibe when it comes to a flavour. I might check it out though if you say it’s a winner!
