Hotel Review: Divine Decor at The Blackman Hotel
Last weekend I jetted down to Melbourne in what was to be a weekend of design, homewares shopping, a few tipples and catching up with some friends both new and old. The city delivered in spades and one of the highlights was staying at The Blackman Hotel on St Kilda Road. Read on for my video tour of the room so you can get a feel for what it’s like!
Below: Wandering the streets of Melbourne to snap street art, taking in Chrissy trees at Federation Square, posing for photos in the foyer of The Blackman Hotel, lusting over the divine graffiti in this laneway, appreciating my fave cocktail of all time – the Espresso Martini, and catching up with my sister from another Mister, Maggie Pana from Kreo Home.
So, onto the hotel we stayed in. The Blackman is a gorgeous boutique hotel about 10 mins from the city of Melbs on St Kilda Road. It’s nestled down a side street so you avoid the hustle and bustle, but getting a tram was a cinch. There’s a cute cafe downstairs where we grabbed brekkie and a wine bar the other side where, of course (you know me), we sat and had a Savvy B in the afternoon sun (and boy was it warm down there). So, if you want an escape where you don’t do anything and don’t have to travel far to wine and dine, The Blackman has you covered.
Inside the place is arty and on-trend. It’s decked out with art from Aussie artist Charles Blackman, whose work I’d describe as charming and sometimes dark in places. There were many Alice in Wonderland inspired paintings and others that were just as interesting. If you want to find out more about Charles Blackman, click here.
All in all I’d give The Blackman an 8 out of 10. The bed felt a little small, but apart from that the decor and art was truly one of a kind!
