Exteriors are not my forte, let me come right out and say that. So while it would be wrong of me to pass judgement on tonight’s House Rules garden reveals, fate has decide it must be done. Let’s chat the best and worst bits from the NSW and WA outdoor transformations!
Maddy and Lloyd, God love ’em, made two epic fails in their front yard. While I was pretty impressed with the steps that led up to the front door (and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor wall), no home’s frontage should ever feature flashing LED lights in a rainbow of colours. There is no way to make that look lovely.
They also missed the mark with that fish pond under the stairs. It looked really makeshift and would probably be the first thing I would change if the home was mine.
I really liked what Carole and Russell did in the backyard. The entertaining error looked pretty amazing, making for the ultimate place to hang out. It was a little unfortunate (as was pointed out) that there was no coverage overhead from rain, meaning that unless it was a beautiful day, you couldn’t use the area.
Although Candy thought the sleeper feature looked like a burial ground, I don’t think it was all that bad. As Wendy pointed out, it just needed better placement. It looked a bit lonely where it was.
Adam and Lisa were given top scores for the night and it was well deserved. That front yard provided a lot of wow moments and was a true transformation.
In the backyard, I have to say I was really underwhelmed (and Candy and Ryan usually impress me). I know that time ran out, but I don’t know if that was the real issue with the design. I thought it just lacked wow factor. The large seat at the top of the garden was great, but everything else seemed a bit ho-hum, don’t you think?
I think you were on the money when you said Maddi & Lloyd will be next to go – so much wtf in one garden.
I loved what Candy & Ryan did with the wood around the windows + poles but yeah, for me that’s about where their wow factor stopped.
Chelsea you are spot on! I just couldn’t get my head around that LED lighting. Tack-o-rama. I say the finale is a Carole & Russell vs Candy and Ryan.
