Having moved to Melbourne a few months ago, it’s pretty safe to say that TLC Interiors is here to stay. It’s been an undeniably cold winter down here and it still hasn’t scared me away; I’m pretty sure this means my love affair with Melbs is a long-term thing.
Now my partner and I are on the hunt for suburbs to buy in. I’ve been a serial renter for over 10 years, so the time has finally come to lock something down and become a real adult. Scary times, people, scary times!
I’ve gotten all technological and discovered a range of apps that can help you with finding a home – renting one or buying one, as well as some nifty apps to help you if you’re renovating. You can thank me later 😉
5 Apps to help you Build, Buy or Renovate your Home
UrHome (Free App)
I’m in love with this app because it allows you to search for homes to buy across the country, then check out what sort of deposit you need, what the repayments will be, what the interest rate is and the best part: you can apply for loans right there and then through the app.
You can also check out improvements you can make to the property in question and what they’ll cost, making this an awesome option for those looking to complete a reno.

ColourChange ($1.29)
This is a great app for renovators because it allows you to take a photo of a room and then manipulate the colours of the walls. It’s a really great way to get an idea of what a space will look like before you go to the trouble of painting it a particular colour.
Pinterest App (Free App)
I’ve always said that creating a moodboard of a room can save you thousands, so download the Pinterest app and you’ll be able to pin on the go and start putting ideas together for your dream home before you buy or renovate it.
Houzz (Free App)
Houzz is hands-down the best place to find a design professionals to help you put your new home together. Whether it’s an interior designer, architect, stylist or contractor, this app lets you search for pros in and around your suburb. A definite winner.
MagicPlan (In-App Purchases)
What I love about this app is how easy it is to use. All you have to do is take multiple photos of a particular room and the app will put together a floor plan of the space.
It’s great if you don’t want to go to the trouble of drawing up plans yourself and the best part is that you can share your floor plan with other users.
