Last week, the country’s top bloggers came together to take on Sydney Harbour and the CBD. It was all thanks to our agency, Bloggerati by Nuffnang, who along with the help of Destination NSW and Qantas, flew their blogger talent in from across the country to experience what gorgeous Sydney town had to offer.
Turns out that Sydney town had a horrendous cold front on offer from a weather perspective, but the Bloggerati group still made the most of their stay (thanks Rydges Hotels) and officially launched the Sydney Nuffnang office, which can only mean great things for the business as a whole – and us bloggers!
Thanks to Nuffnang, Destination NSW, Qantas and Rydges for this little getaway!
I had an epiphany on Sydney Harbour
Prior to moving down to Melbourne a few months ago, I had lived in Sydney all my life. I actually put the finishing touches on my book the week before I drove down, which is all about the best places to eat, drink and shop in and around Sydney. It’s safe to say that I know Sydney like the back of my hand, but during my stay, I realised something: Sydney is hands-down the best city to holiday in.
I experienced this moment with a champagne in hand, aboard a luxury cruiser on Sydney Harbour on Saturday afternoon (thanks Destination NSW and East Sail). Yes, we’d partied the night before at Pullman Grand Quay’s ECQ Bar, which had great views of the Harbour Bridge, but that moment on the water, surrounded by bloggers from Melbourne and Darwin, I saw the city through the eyes of a tourist. And it was more magical that it had ever been during my 33 years living in it.
Being down here in Melbourne is amazing, don’t get me wrong, but for true wow moments, Sydney really has it. The bridge, the Opera House, Sydney Harbour itself; they’re all second-to-none, and it all makes for a truly awe-inspiring experience when you’re in the thick of it.
In the introduction of my book, I wrote that Sydney Harbour was like no other place in the world, but I don’t think I really lived the truth of it until that moment on the water, as I took in the view of Bridge above me and heard fellow bloggers gasp over how dreamy the whole adventure was.
If you haven’t visited recently, you really must go. There’s always something happening in Sydney and truly is unforgettable. From an ex-Sydneysider now living in another state, take my word for it: it can’t be beat.
Other highlights from my Sydney Trip
- Getting pulled up on stage by a cabaret singer during our Friday night party at ECQ Bar (I am waiting for the call from Broadway agents any day now)
- Meeting Neil Perry and feasting on amazing cuisine at the divine Spice Temple
- Sharing ideas and info with other bloggers during our conference at Pullman Quay Grand Sydney (that was a truly inspiring session)
- Gorging on the best burgers in the world at Burger Project on George Street in the CBD (after a few too many red wines the night before, they were very much appreciated).
