From Cheap to Chic: 18 Armchairs for Bedroom Corners

The armchairs for bedroom corners I want to show you today are not like ordinary armchairs. They’re not the same as the armchairs you’d pop in the corner of your living room, for example. There’s one thing that completely sets them apart from the chairs you’re used to. Can you guess what it is?

The armchairs below are to be used differently. Quite differently, in fact. While your living room armchairs are for sitting on, these ones are not. These ones are to be used to another purpose altogether.

These are chairs are for dumping your clothes on.

There, I said it. And don’t pretend you don’t do this. It’s a known fact that everyone needs (and deserves) an armchair for their bedroom that is used solely as a dumping ground for jumpers, jackets and other clothing.

Not only are they made for dumping clothes on, but the oodles of cushions you take off your bed each night too. And yes, your bed should have loads of cushions on it. I want it to resemble the ball pit at a kids indoor playground, no matter what your partner says!

So let’s not waste another minute showcasing these amazing armchairs for bedroom corners.

Armchairs for Bedroom Corners: Forget Comfort!

Hunting down an armchair for your bedroom corner is different than browsing varieties for your living room. As I said about, they do function quite differently.

Because the chair in the corner of your bedroom is likely to be used more for show than actually sitting on, comfort is of little importance. Now, that’s not to say that the armchairs in this post aren’t comfy and cosy. But truthfully, some aren’t snuggle-worthy – and that’s OK! The truth is, this is an aesthetic decorative moment, not a functional one.

So with comfort no longer a consideration, you’re free to shop online. You don’t really need to give the armchair the tush test. Simply find your fave style, lock it in, and have that bad boy delivered to your door.

There are a few things to keep in mind when you’re shopping armchairs for bedroom corners, which I’ll list below for you. We can’t be rushing into such a purchase after all, no matter how cheap the piece is!

Before you Shop for your Bedroom Armchair…

Consider the following before you lock in your armchair of choice. There’s just nothing worse than buyers regret when it comes to furniture, is there?

  • How big is your room? Can it actually fit an armchair? Is an ottoman more appropriate?
  • Choose your armchair in a vibe that suits the bedroom design scheme you have going on
  • Be careful to measure out the depth of the chair in the corner of your room before you buy
  • Ensure you allow enough room between the chair and the bed to walk around comfortably
  • If space is tight, avoid chairs with hard lines and sharp corners to prevent injuries
  • If you have pets, consider a chair that matches their fur colour. And yes, I’m serious!
  • Chairs with thin legs, raised off the ground, and no arms are better for smaller spaces
  • Larger rooms can handle armchairs with a higher back and wider profile
  • A cushion is a nice idea on the chair. See a list of top cushion options here

Now that you have your head around what to look for, let me show you some of my fave armchairs for bedroom corners below. I’ve split it up into three style categories to make it easier for you to find one that suits the look and feel of your space.

I wish I had space in my bedroom for a chair, even an ottoman…but alas my bedroom is somewhat minuscule in size. I tried putting a small stool in the corner but even that was pushing it! I’ll just dream of my next apartment where I will have space for the coveted clothing dump armchair!

Recently bought this one (in green) for a bit of fun in our guest bedroom: https://www.zanui.com.au/Akello-Occasional-Chair-170684.html Found it for a steal from Vita Interiors in Melbourne. The hairpin legs, soft, rounded corners, lack of arms and relatively compact footprint made it perfect for the small nook available; bonus is it’s a pretty comfy perch to boot. Great tip about checking the depth Chris, I found so many armchairs I looked at were deceptively deep – especially the ones that look the most relaxing!
