Lazy summer days are part of the inspiration for the range from Aussie outdoor homewares biz Basil Bangs. But news of a fresh product offering for the cooler months is making this local brand a year-long must-have.
TLC has the scoop on what’s coming up in February for this popular design duo.
Born in 2010, Basil Bangs was founded on the idea of bringing together amazing craftsmanship and art for the outdoor space, co-founder Krista Huebner tells TLC when we spoke this week.
“Basil Bangs is for anyone who appreciates art and loves the idea of taking it with them and using in their life instead of just hanging it on a wall,” she explains.
What started as a passion project to reimagine the humble beach umbrella five years ago has turned into a mission to update other must have items for outdoors and around the home.
It’s the brands latest product that has TLC a little excited, as Basil Bags gears up to release its debut range of rain umbrellas, launching at Sydney Life Instyle in February.
“It’s incredibly exciting,” Krista says. “We’ve been developing the concept for two years now to bring the same industrial design quality to an everyday (often discarded) household product and make it something to treasure. It’s amazing to be able to launch this at Life Instyle”.
“We have some wonderful new artists that we are collaborating with as well, so it’s all happening for 2016 already!”
Regular fixtures at the annual trade show, Krista tells me that Life Instyle is always a great experience for the brand.
“We love the vibe of being with all the fellow creatives in the industry and seeing what amazing things people are coming up with. It’s also just a great way to showcase Basil Bangs and see people enjoy the work we’ve put into it”.
With a huge 2015 behind them, which included an expanded range of cushions, new prints and artist collaborations, Basil Bangs’ bold and colourful range is set to dominate Aussie homes – and lives – again this year.
“Obviously our rain umbrella’s will be a cool new addition to the BB family,” Krista says. “And we have some wonderful new artists that we are collaborating with as well, so it’s all happening for 2016 already!”.
