Matt Stewart Launches New Graffiti-Inspired Cushion Range

Matt Stewart Art - Street Art Cushions

Be still my beating heart.

You know that I adore graffiti, right? And you know that I’m addicted to cushions, right? Well, I never dreamed the two could come together to exist in such perfect harmony, but they have. And it’s all thanks to the very talented Matt Stewart, whose street-inspired aerosol art I’ve featured on the blog before (and display in my own home, might I add).

Matt’s new ‘Art Cushions’ range very much reflects the aesthetic of his successful aerosol art series, which is going gangbusters since it appeared in The Block Shop (I was totally across his work before it went mainstream!). The motifs you see on the cushions are digitally printed onto high-grade Belgian linen, so there’s a quality story to be told here too. They’re 50cm x 50cm in size and feature premium duck feather down inserts – with eight individual styles to choose from (my faves are the Indian headdress and flamingo motifs).

“In a market that is currently saturated with cushions, I still managed to find a want for something a little different,” Matt tells me. “A homewares product that will either match their Matt Stewart canvas artwork, or become a burst of colour as a statement piece with a strong talking point”.

What I love about these cushions is that they create such an interesting juxtaposition. The grittiness of urban street art merging with premium fabrics and fillings makes this a really interesting visual story, don’t you think?

Matt has gone to great lengths to produce these divine cushions and has considered far more than just how the cushion itself looks and feels.

“I want everything about this product to be an experience. The branding and packaging have been created to make receiving one of these cushions an event! The actual cushion is merely the brilliant end result of that experience”.

>>> Matt’s cushions are $250 each, but you can get your hands one some via the competition below 😉

I absolutely LOVE Matt’s cushions. If I had to choose though, I’d pick the orange Indian one, and the Galaxy looking one. I have designed my apartment with an industrial type look, and I have been on the look out for some ideal cushions.., now I have found them! Pretty please pick me

These are spectacular! I am in love with the Indian Headdress cushion as my neighbours recently had a party and all we could see from over our fence were various multi coloured headdress pieces floating around! The Flamingo’s are also divine as who doesnt love a pink flamingo? Love xxx

  • Because you can NEVER EVER EVER have too many cushions. I would choose the flamingo one and the pink Indian Headdress one. I love that they have Matt Stewart branding on the reverse to show its authenticity!

  • Monique Channells-Baker

Wow, these are stunning and I would LOVE the pink Indian Headdress one. It’s so fresh and funky but also very pretty. I think I would change my whole decor just to match this pillow!!!!

  • Kim hodge

Wow these are totally breathtaking. Its so nice in this day and age to still see something different in the range of cushions. I would love the pink skull cushion , it would suit my aquired tatse(as my husbands calls it)

  • Tracey Macdonald

My daughter would absolutely love the flamingo one. She loves all things flamingo. She has flamingo clothes, a flamingo drinking glass and at every face painting opportunity we also find ourselves looking at a flamingo child. This flamingo cushion is absolutely to die for and the fact that they are Australian made just makes them even more desirable. A great Aussie designer !!

  • Virginia

Love all of them!! My favourites are the afro cushion and orange headpiece cushion! I’ll move in a new appartment soon and they would look just perfekt there!

  • Definitely can’t decide between the flamingo lady and the tiny headdress.. So I choose both.

  • Ella

I love the flamingo for a bit of fun and the cityscape for a great way to add colour in a subtle way.

Cushions make a room and these vibrant, mystical features are DEVINE! Fallen in love x

    • Shonna Hartley

Oh, the first photo with head dress and the other with blue, urban graffiti neon.

  • Oh Chris, always with your finger on the pulse! I have to go for the crowd pleaser Indian headdress set. They’re vibrant, surprisingly unisex and with the cooler weather coming, they’ll be like Berocca for my interior! x

  • Casey Gutierrez

I’m in love with all of them and I’ve been stalking the Instagram page since the first mention of cushions 6 weeks ago!

The two stand outs for me are Pink Headpiece and Orange Headpiece. And Headpiece Pattern is a very close third 🙂

Matt’s work is incredible. Oqning onenif his prints is on my Bucket List.

  • Emma Hand

I’ve been following Matt’s work for some time now (on insta), and would love to own a piece of his artwork. I’d certainly be happy to own a cushion in the meantime 🙂
I Love the Indian headdress either or both colours are so striking! She is so beautiful!

  • Nicole

So EXCITED to enter this competition! Matt Stewart art and cushions, what more needs to be said :-). My two favourites would have to be the Orange Headpiece and the Stencil Art (reliving my childhood with Mr Lego)! Fingers and toes crossed. Good luck everyone!

Immediately the pink Indian headdress print caught my eye. I’m loving the contrast between the pink and black, it’s definitely a statement piece. One day i’d love to have a Matt Stewart original canvas hanging on my lounge wall.

  • Sharyn W

these cushions are seriously divine – my favourites are the pink flamingo and the blue galaxy like looking one – love these ones for both the colours and the designs – they would really stand out and be a talking piece in any room – great cushions.

  • Natasha Andrews

Oh Chris – you are such a shocking enabler – I think if my other half knew how much you encourage my terrible cushion addiction he would find a way to block your site!!

Matt’s work is stunning – I just adore the single orange feather Indian headdress – just so fabulous!

  • Sarah

These are sooo great!! My favourite are the indian head dress ones!!

  • Malinda Brown

Oh my goodness!! The Indian headress would go perfectly in my lounge room!! And I think my girls would cry if I didn’t add the flamingo one as well. So gorgeous, I’m in love.

  • Michelle Ni Dholain

I love the Orange Indian one and the skull one.

  • Jimmy Allen

Hi Chris, I love all the cushions but if I had to choose it would have to be the Skulls or the gorgeous Blue Hue with dark piping or the one with the multiple Indian Headresses! Hey, I can’t choose. I love the concept of Art on a cushion. Especially Urban Art by Matt Stewart. Art doesn’t have to only go on your walls, Art can decorate your sofa too!

  • Amy

I love the pink flamingo and the pink Indian headdress cushions. They are gorgeous and the quality looks amazing.

  • Emily

Completely divine! I love that they are made to be hugged and loved! Very cool, I like the skull with the flower crown and the Indian feathered head dress… Very sexy

  • Kate Hilton

I love these cushions! I have a couple of Matt’s canvas’, from years ago when he was starting out in his studio in the Valley. I think I have myself a couple of bargains as he has become huge since then! Would love to have a couple of cushions to match my favourite feature pieces! Keep up the creativity Matt! 🙂

  • Cles

Since finding Matt (so long ago!) I have basically fell in love with his work, he is honestly so awesome. The Indian headdress pieces were the ones that caught my eye at first and I would be so over the moon if I had a beautiful pink one that would oneday match a canvas of his (lots of saving to do!) Really I would be happy with any of his cushions, like I said – he’s friken awesome!

  • Mirela

Favourite cushion design: the pink Indian headdress. Why? Because it’s whimsical, beautiful, deep & meaningful, pop, traditional … I would put these in my baby’s room to really set his imagination ablaze (I’m not into cartoon jungle decals…). X

  • Kahlie Freeman

My fav is definitely the pink Indian headdress cushion! I’m sooooo in love with that print

  • Ash Nunn
