Be still my beating heart.
You know that I adore graffiti, right? And you know that I’m addicted to cushions, right? Well, I never dreamed the two could come together to exist in such perfect harmony, but they have. And it’s all thanks to the very talented Matt Stewart, whose street-inspired aerosol art I’ve featured on the blog before (and display in my own home, might I add).
Matt’s new ‘Art Cushions’ range very much reflects the aesthetic of his successful aerosol art series, which is going gangbusters since it appeared in The Block Shop (I was totally across his work before it went mainstream!). The motifs you see on the cushions are digitally printed onto high-grade Belgian linen, so there’s a quality story to be told here too. They’re 50cm x 50cm in size and feature premium duck feather down inserts – with eight individual styles to choose from (my faves are the Indian headdress and flamingo motifs).
“In a market that is currently saturated with cushions, I still managed to find a want for something a little different,” Matt tells me. “A homewares product that will either match their Matt Stewart canvas artwork, or become a burst of colour as a statement piece with a strong talking point”.
What I love about these cushions is that they create such an interesting juxtaposition. The grittiness of urban street art merging with premium fabrics and fillings makes this a really interesting visual story, don’t you think?
Matt has gone to great lengths to produce these divine cushions and has considered far more than just how the cushion itself looks and feels.
“I want everything about this product to be an experience. The branding and packaging have been created to make receiving one of these cushions an event! The actual cushion is merely the brilliant end result of that experience”.
>>> Matt’s cushions are $250 each, but you can get your hands one some via the competition below 😉

These are amazing and am saving up for one of his prints I love the Indian head dress in orange and also the lego man so different!
My fav is definitely the pink Indian headdress cushion! I’m sooooo in love with that print
Favourite cushion design: the pink Indian headdress. Why? Because it’s whimsical, beautiful, deep & meaningful, pop, traditional … I would put these in my baby’s room to really set his imagination ablaze (I’m not into cartoon jungle decals…). X
Since finding Matt (so long ago!) I have basically fell in love with his work, he is honestly so awesome. The Indian headdress pieces were the ones that caught my eye at first and I would be so over the moon if I had a beautiful pink one that would oneday match a canvas of his (lots of saving to do!) Really I would be happy with any of his cushions, like I said – he’s friken awesome!
I love these cushions! I have a couple of Matt’s canvas’, from years ago when he was starting out in his studio in the Valley. I think I have myself a couple of bargains as he has become huge since then! Would love to have a couple of cushions to match my favourite feature pieces! Keep up the creativity Matt! 🙂
Completely divine! I love that they are made to be hugged and loved! Very cool, I like the skull with the flower crown and the Indian feathered head dress… Very sexy
I love the pink flamingo and the pink Indian headdress cushions. They are gorgeous and the quality looks amazing.
Hi Chris, I love all the cushions but if I had to choose it would have to be the Skulls or the gorgeous Blue Hue with dark piping or the one with the multiple Indian Headresses! Hey, I can’t choose. I love the concept of Art on a cushion. Especially Urban Art by Matt Stewart. Art doesn’t have to only go on your walls, Art can decorate your sofa too!
