The art business is a competitive one. Just ask the ladies behind local brand Minty Prints.
Born in 2012, Casey Divall and Amy Creek’s business celebrates colourful prints with attitude, fun and a little cheek. But getting your name out there takes a while, they discovered.
“We probably underestimated just how competitive the graphic art print market is and how much time you have to dedicate to building up your brand awareness,” Casey tells me. “It’s definitely a slow burn”.
The slow burn approach is a smart one, especially in a market where a lot of small businesses fail fast. Minty Prints, like TLC Interiors, has been on the scene for close to three years now, and they’ve definitely worked their way onto people’s radars.
The dynamic duo, who worked together at a corporate advertising and marketing agency prior to launching the brand, tell me that they intended for their prints to put a smile on people’s faces. And alongside that, they focused from the start on producing quality over quantity.
“Our prints are printed on high quality cotton rag stocks, posters on long lasting photo quality stocks and our wall flags are made from durable cotton canvas,” Amy says. “We want our art to last and be enjoyed in people’s homes for many, many years without them having to worry about things like colours fading over time”.
Of their varied range, my faves are the Fox, Bear, Ice Cream and Pear prints you see in this post – available now in TLC Interiors Shop. I love their sense of innocence and whimsy. The girls are just as smitten with these four designs, too.
“It’s that cheeky little look Foxy has, the memories ice creams brings up in the little kid in us all (I mean who doesn’t love a great ice cream cone right?!?), the sweet little face on Pear and our carefree and cuddly Grizzly is the perfect partner for Foxy”.
With new releases coming just in time for Christmas (including an animal friend for Bear and Foxy), Casey and Amy are as busy as ever. It’s a crazy and creative process they’ve learn to enjoy, though.
“Between everything else that happens in our lives (work, children, husbands, homes etc), there really is only so much we can do at once with Minty,” they explain. “But at the same time, the process of developing new designs and the reaction we get to them, makes the juggle all worth it!”.

I might have to buy some of these for us. They’re too cute.
Thank you for the post Chris and your ongoing support of our little business…we love you for it 🙂
