Trust me when I say that running any small business alone is next to impossible. I might produce the majority of the content for the blog, but my partner Gavin is the techy brains behind the operation and keeps the blog and store running around the clock.
For Queensland interior stylist Natalia Greer – one half of the team behind Mono Home – partnership is equally important.
Her partner Tim also has a hand in the brand’s success, and as an industrial designer, he works alongside Natalie in the design process and the making of their on-trend product range.
Created at the start of 2015, Mono Home perfectly blends Natalie and Tim’s aesthetics. Both raised in small country towns, it’s influenced the materials they use to make their products (concrete, wood and copper) and has resulted in some stunning home decor gems you’re going to fall head over heels for.
Natalie tells me that Mono Home is a true team effort and that making their product range really draws on both of their individual strengths.
“Tim loves working with the copper pipe, wood and anything that requires heavy power tools,” Natalie explains. “He does all of the woodwork himself, from cutting down the trees to forming the products, to shaping the diamonds and cutting the legs for our side tables. I do all of the concrete mixing, marbling, sealing, painting, polishing and making sure everything is beautiful”
What I love about Mono Home’s range is that it merges a luxe looks with a gritty, industrial vibe. It’s a very striking blend and I think it really taps into what’s trending at the moment in interior design.
I’m also completely smitten with Tim and Natalie’s home, which perfectly mirrors the rustic but elegant aesthetic in their product range. You’ll also notice there’s a wonderful handmade element to their home and their creations, which Natalie tells me is very important to them.
“There is nothing like a product that is handmade. There are so many mass manufactured products on the market, and the level of appreciation for handmade items is significantly more – and that is what drives us to grow our business”.
Two of their creations – the concrete diamonds you see in this post on the concrete candelabra – are both available in TLC Interiors Shop and just happen two be two of Natalie’s fave products.
“They basically sum up what Mono Home is all about,” she says. “Our marble concrete diamonds are so simple and unique and add a touch of raw luxury to any home [while the candelabras] are the perfect example of how an industrial material can be turned into an elegant piece of decor”.
Selected pieces from the Mono Home range are now available in TLC Interiors Shop. Prices start at just $15.
