Sublime Floral Art from Aussie Brand Nature by Nelly
I’m always on the lookout for artwork for my new home (you can follow my building journey here if you’re interested). And I find that photographs – over other decor finds – are such an easy and affordable way to brighten up your space.
I recently discovered local art brand Nature by Nelly, who produces photographic artwork of Australian bush nature. What I love about this brand is that it allows you to bring the feeling of the outdoors into your home in really eye-catching, non-literal ways.
Having plants and flowers inside is very on-trend right now (more on that here), but in all honestly, art is a lot easier to implement than trying to maintain some species of indoor greenery. Sorry Mr Fiddle Leaf Fig… I’m just no good at keeping you alive!
The Creative Behind Nature by Nelly
The talented creative behind the brand is Janelle de Soza, who has spent countless hours taking amazing photos of Australian natives. They include Banksia, Bottle Brush, Eucalyptus and Kangaroo Paw; providing a rainbow of different coloured artworks that truly reflect her love and passion for the Aussie bush.
Janelle hopes that her art will serve as a reminder to go out and get amongst nature and observe it more closely. “In doing so,” she says, “It is my hope that more people will help in the fight to save it”.
What makes this local brand so special is that one dollar from every artwork sold goes to both the Australian Conservation Foundation and Bush Heritage Australia.
“It will help me keep a tally of the number of people who have invited nature into their lives as well, as fulfil my desire to make a difference to the conservation of Australia’s native flora and fauna and the preservation of our unique natural places,” Janelle explains.
Janelle has quoted the great Sir David Attenborough as once saying, “It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty; the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living.”
Right you are Sir Attenborough! I found beauty in the Lichen photograph you see above, which has soft greens and purples and is perfect for the bedroom sanctuary I’ve created at my place. I’ve framed it in an affordable white IKEA frame and it hangs beautifully on my grey bedroom wall next to my sheer curtains.
The next piece I’m eyeing off is the Kangaroo Paw – a beautiful photograph with a pop of red. Janelle’s pieces would also make the perfect gift for those ‘hard to buy for’ people (like my mother-in-law), and each piece is really well priced.
