I’m losing my mind in the best way possible over the new collection from The Dharma Door. I thought their fair trade bags, totes and baskets were breathtaking, but this new range takes things to the next level. Prepare to be blown away by the Jute Macrame Collection – and win a piece for your own home!
Before I even discuss the amazing range, I want to call out how wonderful it is that owner and designer of The Dharma Door, Shannon Sheedy, visits the villages of Bangladesh to meet the talented women who make these pieces. It not only allows her to gain insight into the making process, but to witness this sustainable employment initiative in action, which ensures fair pay and working conditions.
“There is an exchange of mutual gratitude on each of my visits,” Shannon says. “The woman are happy knowing that macrame is popular at the moment and I have a chance to thank them personally for interpreting my designs so well.”!
Now to the stunning pieces themselves. As you can see above and below, they evoke a real sense of natural warmth and are perfectly on-trend with macrame being so big right now in interiors. The collection features hand-woven wall art, door curtains, table runners and string bags – with some pieces including a touch of natural indigo for added visual interest.
I can see these pieces working in a variety of interiors; boho, coastal, country, industrial and more. The subtle colourway makes them easily worked into just about any scheme, while the unique shapes would make them a real wow moment in your room.

I think the most wonderful thing about the Dharma Door range is how ethical their products are. The fact that by purchasing one of these beautiful pieces, you are not only helping a village in regards to their welfare but these amazing artisans can continue their practice. Its a pretty special and unique object to have in your own home. I love this wall hanging, natural fibres really add charm to a home.
These are beautifully simple textile pieces! I would love one to add some interest and depth to my walls, and it would remind me of my mum. She was a macramé enthusiast when I was a child… I remember loads of hangings from drift wood! I love the Dharma Door’s natural jute tassle hanging.
Such beautiful pieces of artwork. I love that there would be an amazing story behind each of these creations and the lovely ladies that made them. Would love one of these in my home.
Yay! I’ll be first. I’ve been dying for a macrame wall hanging for ages! I love the inclusion of natural fibre elements in a home. It brings an earthy yet clean/modern feel to a space and the beautiful range by Dharma and Co. is a perfect example of how natural materials can enhance or transform an interior. The navy is a great contrast. I love it!
