There are homewares that look pretty and then there are homewares that function wonderfully. Often it can be difficult to get your hands on pieces that tick both boxes.
However Hong Kong brand OMMO does just that wonderfully; offering up a tableware collection that is everything great design should be; simple, functional and inspirational.
In fact, OMMO says that its new range exudes quiet joy, but I’m not so sure I can turn the volume down over my excitement for these pieces, which to me feel wonderfully nostalgic and somewhat futuristic at the same time.
The New OMMO Range through H+G Designs
As the exclusive local distributor of OMMO products, H+G Designs – who I’ve showcased on the blog before (check out their sublime mood boards here) – are launching the new collection in the coming weeks as part of their new H+G Curated wing of the biz.
It’s definitely going to expand their collection beyond decor for your walls, and I personally couldn’t be happier to see these products worked into the mix.
H+G founder Hailey McGinty and her husband travelled overseas earlier this year to check out the collection and meet with the OMMO team, so a lot of time and research has gone into securing pieces that fit in with their brand aesthetic. And they’ve been road tested too.
“We’ve been trialling the latest range in our own home and absolutely love every single piece,” Hailey tells me. “The quality and look is second to none. We have a great feeling about introducing the products to the Australian market”.
Perfect for display and for everyday use, the current collection has 19 items each in a variety of colour options. There’s a second collection expected to land in September, but this one is available in the coming weeks via the H+G website and pre-orders are now available, so click here if you’re eager to secure some.
As I said initially, there’s an old-meets-new quality in these pieces that really appeals to me. They remind me of something I saw in the 80s when I was growing up, and yet there’s an inherently futuristic element to them as well. This is probably why I’m so drawn to them, and why they feel timeless from a design perspective.
And on a sidenote; how amazing are the tea infusers? I’ve been reducing my coffee intake of late and upping the tea consumption instead, and these would be amazing for an afternoon in front of the tele.
