If you’re a fan of colour and you don’t mind a bit of pattern, then the painterly homewares trend is probably giving you heart palpitations. For all the right reasons, of course!
No matter how hard I try to make my home a stripped back affair when it comes to hue, I can’t help but let brights claw their way back into my space. If you’re in the same boat, then today’s post is a celebration of colour you’re going to be complete on-board with. So pop the champers and let’s have a colour party.
The Painterly Homewares Trend
What’s so amazing about the painterly trend is that it allows you to create some really high-velocity moments in your home. It has a fresh, contemporary and somewhat whimsical feel, that celebrates playfulness and fluidity.
The term painterly is a pretty broad one, but it encapsulates any decor that features bold paint stokes, watercolour dots and splotches, drip patterns, dip dye effects, and the application of ombre.
Even us colour lovers know that you can’t let these sorts of homewares into your abode in huge doses, so let them be the star of the show against a somewhat calmer or more subdued palette. Every room needs a focal point, though, and I reckon these painterly homewares are an ideal (and affordable) way to achieve that.
The artwork you see at the top of this post is pretty divine, don’t you think? It’s called Watercolour Spot in Pink ($189), and you can click here to find out more about it.
Directly above are some awesome wall hooks from local brand Paper Empire and I’m a bit obsessed with them too. They’re $35 each and you can shop them here.
