It’s a little hard to sum up Zakkia.
Yes, it’s a homewares brand and a gorgeous online store, but the exact style of products on offer is a toughie to lock in. Which is probably a good thing. You certainly can’t pigeon hole the them, though it is fair to say the products are an eclectic mix of contemporary, on-trends delights.
“It is really hard to try to sum the brand up,” creator Sara Lundgren concedes, although others have described Zakkia as Scandi-meets-Bondi.
“I guess [that description] makes sense,” she continues. “In addition to our obvious Scandi influence, I do think our brand has a little bit of a cool, coastal vibe as well”.
With a black-grey-white colour story that feels distinctly Scandi, there’s also loads of textural elements in the collections that channel a more seaside vibe. Even more delightful is the strong intent to make the designs as clean as possible. It’s a no-fuss approach and it’s a very refreshing one.
Moving from Sweden to Australia six years ago, Sara’s heritage is wonderfully obvious in the products Zakkia sells, with the name of the biz coming from Sara’s grandmother, who she didn’t get a chance to know growing up.
“Sadly, I only met my grandmother once so I never got to know her. I wanted the brand to have a name that meant something, and I liked the sound and uniqueness of Zakkia. Zakkia is also my sister’s middle name, and she likes to think that the brand is named after her”.
The Dala Horse is possibly the most iconic and most popular product in the Zakkia range (and my personal fave). It’s also a special one for Sara, too.
“I love the Dala horse, probably because I feel they are very connected to my Scandinavian heritage. It is such an iconic Swedish handicraft piece. The horses were originally carved in wood, painted in colourful patterns, and used as toys”.
Not only are the products from Zakkia so brilliantly unique and on-trend, but they’re also affordable (and you know that I love to bag a bargain!). It’s an element that Sara wanted to ensure was there from the moment she started the brand.
“Being from Sweden… you could get nicely designed pieces for very affordable prices,” She explains. “When I first moved to Australia I couldn’t find the products I was used to from Sweden, and definitely not at similar prices. So when I first started Zakkia it was very important to me that we keep the prices as low as we possibly could, while not compromising on the quality”.
Well that is one philosophy I can very much get on board with. I am so smitten with the products in this post that I want to guy my home and start again! If you’re a bit keen on Zakkia, hit the competition below and win yourself a $50 voucher!

LOVE LOVE LOVE – to start with I would get a round concrete tray and concrete jar in forest, I also love the brass trays, jars and candle holders and for a bit of texture I would also like to get a jute bag …. i could keep going….
Wow, so many amazing products! It’s hard to choose, but I’m currently doing up my eldest boys’ room and have done crosses on their blind and made a custom cross door knob for their cupboard so the crosses wall hooks would be fantastic – it would certainly help keep wall their library bags/hats etc off the floor!
*all
I WANT IT ALL LOL 🙂 I especially love the deer jute storage basket, concrete trivet, and small white cross wall hook. <3 <3 <3
Could easily spend more than $100 here but to choose what i NEED most (not my kids or hubby, but something for me) – it would be the jute oversize basket for next to my lounge to store those rugs/throws when not in use (as they always seem to end up on the floor); triangle basket square and though I love all three colours I would go yellow to brighten up the loungeroom (would sit on the coffee table and used for my books, magazines etc); and the pink round basket would go amazingly in my bathroom as i love pink but dont have a lot of it around in my house and it would be perfect for storing my products that currently sit on my bathroom bench. But then again could go so much more – Drool !!!!!
I want to revamp a set of drawers so I’d love the brass knobs.
Multiple Deer Jute Storage Baskets to add storage space in my boys room..
Definitely the concrete diamond, pot or tray. I love them all!
Glass terrariums, concrete horse, concrete tray! Gosh the list is endless really! Love Zakkia!!
Id love to get the deer basket, cross hooks and coloured concrete pots!
