The Winter 2016 Range from Squeak will Blow your Mind

If you’re looking for a way to revamp your interior this winter, you’re in luck; the new brand range from Squeak has your name written all over it.

The Winter 2016 Range from Squeak

Melbourne brand Squeak is no stranger to TLC Interiors. I was blown away when I first discovered their range – for all things home and beyond – last year. The good news is, everything that makes their products so amazing can be found in their brand new winter collection – and boy is it a stunner.

The marbling effect you see in a number of pieces from Squeak’s winter 2016 range was the result of its creator, Pippa Oostergetel, experimenting with paints. The result is wonderfully striking and gives such a sense of depth to each piece.

I was playing around with throwing a ridiculous amount of paint onto canvas and then marbling it all together by moving the canvas around,” Pippa explains of the design process. “It created one huge mess on the table I was painting on, but the canvas turned out pretty great”.

Once the canvases were dry, Pippa scanned them onto her computer and started playing around with the design. It’s resulted in a rich and moody vibe that is elevated by hints of warm, copper tones.

The new range is all navy blue velvet, black leather and copper metallics…need I say more?” Pippa laughs. “That’s why I think it’s amazing but everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. I think what makes this range great is the moody colour palette and also the tactile elements. Little luxuries like hand stitched quilting, leather binding and, of course, the velvet”.

Pippa explains that while navy didn’t use to conjure up thoughts of luxury and sophistication for her, she’s glad to see the base tone in this new range bringing a sense of class to the collection.

“Once upon a time it was such a daggy colour, reminded me of a 90s woman’s, heavily shoulder padded, double breasted, pant suit…probably with scary gold buttons,” she jokes. “But it’s made it’s way back, just as all colours do eventually. I love it”.

The winter 2016 collection from Squeak – as with previous ranges from the brand – goes well beyond stunning home decor. You can get your fill of colourful cushions and bedding here, but there’s also some gorgeous fashion fixes, including the divine handbag and versatile pouch range you see above.

“At any point in time I am carrying at least one or two of my pouches,” Pippa tells me. “I use one as a pencil case and one as a bag for my bag, for which I carry all that stuff that ends at the bottom of your handbag… hair ties, bobby pins, emergency bandaids for when you’re wearing uncomfortable shoes, Panadol, pens, notepad and of course paw paw lip cream. I also use one on the airplane when I’m traveling for easy access to all my essentials”.

The winter 2016 range from Squeak is now available over on their website.
