This week I attended the preview of the Target Homewares 2018 collection and boy was it a stunner.
I thought the new Kmart range was all sorts of amazing (you can see that here) but then Target went ahead and wowed me days later with their decor showcase. It took place in their Chadstone store Friday, which is a pocket of Melbourne I don’t get too that often, and it certainly has me ooh-ing and ahh-ing.
This new homewares collection for Target was a move in a moodier, more romantic direction, with a tonne of new bedding and soft furnishing buys available.
The romance trend is a big one this year and a lot of what Target is doing taps into this vibe. Here are some of the pieces I adored most from the fresh drop (in stores now!).
Target Homewares 2018 Best Bits
There are plenty of cushions, throws and bedding buys to be had in this new range. And a lot of them are in rich, romantic hues. You can see what I mean above.
There’s been a shift this year toward a moodier palette that celebrates florals. But there are still plenty of more subdued moments for those of you who aren’t ready to embrace bold tones.
What I found most impressive from the new collection is the ornaments and dinnerware, though. So I want to show you those above and further down.
Pops of gold are what it’s all about this year, paired with transparent glass vases and decor with a glimmer of dusty pink in it. Most are in smaller decor items like candle holders and cutlery, so you can work them into your space to test the waters.
There’s a strong feminine presence in the Target 2018 Homewares range as well, which I believe is going to carry through as an ongoing trend moving into 2019.
Losing my Mind Over: That gold swan above is giving me serious heart palpitations. Pop some jewellery in there and keep it on your bedside, or have it on your desk to store stationery like paper clips.

Target Homewares 2018: Kitchen and Dining Must-Haves
Ornaments aside, it’s the stuff Target is doing in the way of dinnerware that has me most impressed. Take one look at the image above. Really; who wouldn’t want their dining table adorned with a setting like this?
What’s great about this new dinnerware collection (apart from the gold trim on each piece, which is a feb design detail) is that the plates, bowls and mugs are all sold separately. You can build your own unique look at home and work some of them in with your existing pieces. You don’t have to buy a set of four, six or eight if you don’t need it. The choice is yours and you can easily mix and match.
I love the rich blue colourway here as well; it feels rich. But then the glazing and shapes give it an artisan vibe. It also teams nicely with the grey, gold and pink tones. All three colours are so wonderfully prominent throughout the Target Homewares 2018 range. And they all go so well together.
Below you can also see that the moody blue tones have been carried across into cookware too. This approach allows every pocket of your home to feel cohesive. And who doesn’t want that?
Praise the Decor Gods: The Millennial Pink trend is so hot right now and the bakeware below taps right into that. Are you as obsessed as I am?
Pairing moody blues with dusty pink keeps the look balanced. It’s not too feminine or too masculine, but a perfect blend of both.
