The go-to Online Store for British Homewares

British Homewares - SE10 Gallery - Vintage Phone and Chair

For as long as I can remember I have loved everything about Britain. And no, it has nothing to do with that Union Jack dress Ginger Spice wore at the Brits that time (though I’m sure it helped). There is just something so wonderfully charming about British homewares. Founder of SE10 Gallery, Sam Cannell, clearly shares my fondness for all things UK, because she’s opened a gorgeous online homewares store that celebrates it!

Sam’s passion for British homewares and design was borne after spending years overseas in her early twenties. In fact, SE10 is the postcode of her fave London home, Greenwich.

“I don’t miss the cold but I do miss the weekday social experiences in London (the city is buzzing seven days a week!),” Sam tells me. “I certainly reminisce about our time in Greenwich from time to time. We were fortunate to live in such a beautiful and open spaced area in a bustling city”.

The time in Britain has obviously had an amazing impact on her store, which she launched in October 2011 after a long time researching the market.

The store itself is the ultimate go-to destination for British-inspired bedding, cushions, typography, stationery, giftware and more. Sam loves the Orla Keily range and I have to say I am also pretty smitten with the design, not to mention the gorgeous Lindsey Lang cushion you see at the top of this post!

When asked what it is she loves about the British design aesthetic, Sam tells me “It is a very homely aesthetic which suits a range of tastes”.

“I love that there is often a story behind a piece which connects with the purchaser,” she adds. “Every time they see their purchase it brings back special memories. It’s nice to be a part of that”.
