The Luxury Mattress You Definitely Can’t Afford to Own

I don’t want the title of this post to mislead you. I mean, you might be able to afford the luxury mattress I’m showcasing on the blog today.

Perhaps the more appropriate title should have been ‘The Luxury Mattress I personally can’t afford to own’. But it’s nice to see how the other half live, right?

So let me tell you about the luxury mattress that the who’s who of the world are nabbing to get their beauty sleep on. Think Gwen Paltrow, the Beckhams and Prince Charles.

And more importantly, let me tell you where you can secure it locally if your bank account will allow it.

The Vispring Luxury Mattress dates back to 1901

I thought I was getting on a bit, but the Vispring mattress is steep in heritage. It once graced the first-class cabins of the Titanic and the Queen Elizabth II, and now it’s landed in Australia thanks to my friends at Forty Winks.

Individually hand-crafted, the bed by Vispring blends horsehair from Austria, bamboo, silk and cashmere from China, along with wool from the Shetland Islands. It’s an international texture bonanza, with the dome of the mattress sculpted by hand-tied tufts of wool.

Exclusive to Forty Winks and available in their Hawthorn Prestige showroom, the mattress is an aspirational piece, for me anyway. With plans to make this high-end offering available in select stores nationally, Forty Winks is the only place you can currently get the Vispring Down Under.

This Luxury Mattress Costs What?

I did say I definitely can’t afford this mattress at the start of this post, and I’d be interested to hear if you’d splurge for this beauty once you discover the price.

The Vispring mattress range is priced from $19,999 to $45,999 (with the most premium mattress and base priced at $62,999).

So what do you think? A good stocking stuffer gift for your nearest and dearest this Christmas? All jokes aside though, I’m actually so intrigued to check this mattress out now. For the pricepoint, it’s gotta be outta-this-world!
