For Perth creative Bianca, starting the online store of her dreams came from frustration over not being able to find quality products in her home town to fill her newly renovated house with.
Annoyed with the long delivery times and shipping costs involved in buying products from overseas stores, the concept for her own shop, Granite Lane, began taking shape.
“We travelled to the UK last year and visited a trade show in London and started to discover exciting new products that had not made their way to Australia yet,” Bianca explains.
Since its creation in April, Granite Lane has perfectly meshed international home decor with locally made products, creating a collection that feels truly unique.
“Along our journey we have actually realised how much talent there is locally but were not visible to us when we weren’t in the industry,” Bianca tells me. “So our store is very much a mix of local and international designers. Finding and exposing our local designers is a big part of the vision for Granite Lane”.
While the store is filled with one of my fave brands (Bloomingville), Bianca tells me that Fiction Objects bedding is her ultimate must-have.
“The cotton is so soft, it feels like you are staying in a luxury hotel every night! The other would be from a local artist from Fremantle who has created this dreamy Pillow Spray. The range of Clean Slate products are all natural and 100% vegan so sit well in our store”.
Natural linen brand Holly’s House and handwoven cushion brand Bococo are two other standouts from the range that are exclusive to Granite Lane.
Since starting the brand, Bianca is seeing more and more local talent in her home town, which is great for both the community but also for the store.
“Perth has really grown up as a city… and is oozing talent not only in design, but in the arts and music scene too. We love buying locally made and designed products”.
