Inside The Life Creative Studio Makeover
It’s an exciting time when a brand expands and grows in new directions. That was certainly the case when The Life Creative establish The Studio in Essendon, Melbourne.
Part workspace, part design hub and part styling studio, it was also an event space where I could run regular workshops for small businesses looking for help in any number of domains; blogging, styling, social media and more. It’s a very exciting time to experience new milestones in the TLC journey.
Of course, it goes without saying that we had to make a few changes to The Studio before we were ready to let anyone see it. Long-time readers of the blog know all too well that I need to redecorate every three days, and this space definitely needed a lift. The blue carpet above, as you can see, was anything but stylish, so it was the first to go.
Sean and the team at Carpet Court Essendon North were utterly outstanding in helping us lock in the flooring we were after. The oak grey laminate really opened the space up and made it feel so much more modern, don’t you think?
The team who laid it did so at lightening speed and within a few hours we were back in The Studio ready to tackle the next issue: painting the walls!
Thankfully, Taubmans came to the party and supplied us with paint that took our walls from a yellow-toned white to a crisp ice white. In a space that gets quite hot in warm weather, the icy blue tones make the zone feel a lot cooler and more open.
We also chose to paint a few walls in the space a darker grey; in order to make some art pieces we had our eye on really pop!
The awesome Gary from Ipography Painting did all of the painting in the space with absolute precision and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. He was also incredibly quick.
As you can see, flooring and painting make a huge impact on how The Studio looks and feels now. With those two elements complete, it was time to tackle two other important components we needed desperately; new window treatments and a large table to cater to event attendees.
We were so blown away by the generosity of Luxaflex, who in less than 15 minutes had the old venetian blinds off the windows and brand new roller blinds up. It makes such a dramatic impact to have roller blinds on large windows like this. The venetians gave the space such a cold, corporate feel – but the new rollers are light and bright (plus you cant see through them from the outside – so we get privacy when we need it).
Curious Grace also came to the rescue by suppling the breathtaking Nordic Home Dining Table. What makes this bad boy so special is that it can extend to be a larger table or you can keep it smaller to host a more intimate group. The white top and beech legs are truly beautiful, too, and give the whole zone a Scandi-inspired vibe.
A few other really important elements that completed the space was the stunning hide rug from Two Girls and a Container (they also do some amazing lighting you simply must check out) and the chairs and coffee table from Milan Direct (these guys have such a wide range).
The rug warmed up the space a little and made it feel more welcoming. With the Milan Direct coffee table on top of it, it gives The Studio a focal point when you walk in. I cannot get enough of the silver detailing in that rug. It’s all of my metallic creams come true.
Once all of those elements were in, it was time to decorate. And some awesome brands came to the party!
Mesh Triangle Shelf from Bride & Wolfe gives a pop of colour to the Scandi-inspired space.
We scored some seriously awesome art from the gorgeous team at Urban Road.
Breville hooked us up with an Espresso Coffee Machine, which rocks our world daily.
H&G Designs sent over some of their stunning shelving – complete with leather straps.
The lovely team at AURA Home gifted us awesome cushions and towels in bright colours.
One of my fave local brands Murchisson-Hume supplied divine soaps and hand cream.
Loads more local brands gifted us goodies. Click here to see more of them.
A huge thank you to all of the brands who supplied products and services to get The Studio up and running. I am eternally grateful for your generosity. The brands featured in the space have been ones that I’ve loved and showcased on the blog for years, so it’s truly something special to be surrounded by your work all the time.
Also, a big thanks to the local creatives who popped in over the last few months to say hello, watch as the transformation took place and send us gorgeous gifts along the way. I heart you!
