De-Clutter Ideas to make your Spring Cleaning Easy!

Spring Cleaning Ideas from The Home Stylist Marjorie Silva

Finally Spring has arrived! Sadly or wonderfully (depending on which way you look at it), it’s also the time of year for Spring cleaning! Thankfully I have TheHome senior stylist Marjorie Silva on hand to give her advice on how to de-clutter your space and add some sprucing up for Spring! After the hoarding I’ve undertaken this winter I am well and truly in need of some direction!

1 | Assess your needs on storage and get some fun storage solutions; try beautiful natural baskets or fun printed storage tubs. There are some great storage solutions on TheHome that will make your little closet function like a walk in wardrobe.

2 | Closet hanger experiment; identify wardrobe pieces to clear out. Hang all clothes in the reverse direction. After you wear them, return it to the closet with the hanger facing the correct direction.

3 | Try quick decorating fixes to make your home feel fresher; a couple of bright cushions, one wall of wallpaper or wall stickers or even some funky cabinetry pulls will instantly add colour and brighten up your space.

4 | De-cluttering is a powerful way to change your perspective in behaviour and use of the space. Starting your day by making your bed sets you off on an accomplishment mind set. Perhaps investing on a beautiful new quilt cover set may get you excited about this tedious task.

5 | Change your pillows every two years, even though they are protected with your pillow cases you’d be shocked to see the amount of dust mites they can gather even only after six months!

6 | Try to use natural cleaning products in your home, brands may seem like a splurge but clean air is also a commodity we shouldn’t live without.

  • Thank you for this wonderful ideas. Indeed this would help me for my spring cleaning at home. I will de-clutter and separate things to be thrown, keep and recycle. Maybe I can find another way to make it useful. Cheers.
