Four Delicious New Colour Trends for the Home

Paint Place colour trends forecast for 2014

Each year, leading Aussie paint retailer, Paint Place, develops and releases a series of trend forecast colours and themes specifically for the local market. This year, I was lucky enough to attend the media breakfast and hear trend forecaster Lucy Sutherland and stylist Deb McLean speak about the delightful new trends! Scope out the four looks below and let me know which is your fave (there are so many crafty project ideas in this post I can barely contain my excitement!).

What I love about this entire scenario is that Paint Place stocks a colour card in-store that tells you exactly how to create each look, so you’re not wandering the aisles trying to figure it out (been there, done that, have the frown lines to prove it). I also love these looks for renters; if you can’t paint a wall, opt to tackle a smaller project and add these hues to an array of smaller items.

Lucy Sutherland tells me that this is exactly what Paint Place had in mind. “Whether it is through a series of cushions and vases, a bookshelf arrangement, up-cycling an old chair or a total repaint of a living area, consumers can pick and choose which trend elements they want to introduce”.

Picking a fave from these four is a tough one, but I’m probably leaning toward Sugary Sweet. Because they’ve introduced that stunning Sculpt grey hue, they’ve stopped the look going too feminine. The boxes you see in that shot are IKEA ones too, so it just goes to show how easy it is to do a makeover using some fresh and fabulous paint! I even scored some paint samples from the media breakfast and will be doing some projects for Spring very soon – so keep your eyes peeled!

I guess I’m more Scandi modern. I want to paint neutrals with splashes of colour, like teal and peacock!
