I love a good makeover – especially a real one. Sure, I adore nothing more than flipping through mags and seeing some stunning bedroom styling, but nothing beats the real thing in a real home, completed by people who have a passion for design. Getting bedroom ideas from other creatives is also an added bonus!
Today’s post is celebrating the bedroom makeover of TLC reader Mia Young, who lives in Cranbourne East and has done some amazing work in her home of late. I featured her divine dining room on the blog a little while back – and it was that makeover that paved the way for Mia to carry on the rejuvenating other areas in her home.
As you can see from the before shot, Mia’s room was in need of a refresh. The dark red wall and black accessories were bringing down the mood of the space, which is something Mia didn’t need after a hard year in 2014.
“Last year was a bit of a dark year for me, battling an illness,” Mia tells me. “I wanted to brighten up my bedroom to convey a bright, happy yet calming place for me to enjoy”.
The transformation in this space is nothing short of stunning, with the inspiration for the makeover coming from the two artworks you see in the after shots, which Mia picked up from Freedom. The divine yellow dining chair is also from Freedom – and coincidently enough I have the same one in my living room. It’s called the Astrid and you can take a look at it here.
“I absolutely love the white and timber side tables purchased from the furniture traders (only $199 each!),” Mia explains. “They’re bright and crisp, but the timber top brings warmth to the room”.
Mia is completely in love with the chance and so am I.

Would love to know where your bed is from please! Thanks
