Coastal Bedroom - Tropical Decor

Inside Cathy Scullino’s Tropical Cottage.

Nothing says ‘Summer escape’ quite like tropical decor does, and this edition of Real Rooms – featuring the gorgeous home of TLC reader Cathy Scullino – proves this perfectly. Decking out her cottage in the most marvellous coastal homewares and furniture, Cathy has created a space that not only looks amazing but feels cool and casual, too! Let’s take a closer look.

“With a desire to live in the tropics, I have transformed my home into a tropical oasis both inside and out,” Cathy tells me of her Astral abode in western Sydney. A fibro cottage with an abundance of natural light, it’s this kind of tranquility that Cathy was drawn to when decorating her home.

I can’t get enough of the peacock chair in her living room, which gives the space an instant sense of relaxed grandeur. The textured circular rug, window shutters and tropical cushions further add to the clean and cool aesthetic.

It’s in her bedroom that Cathy’s talents have really shone, though.

“As a DIY addict I made the bedhead myself,” she tells me. And the results speak for themselves. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty envious of that dog right now. Who wouldn’t want a nap in that pocket of sunshine?
