Mia Young’s Punchy Cranbourne East Pad.

I’ve always known there was something super stylin’ about the people of Melbourne – and these shots from TLC reader Mia Young proves it. Her Cranbourne East home, purchased three years ago, is a mix of sleek teak and pops of punchy colour (and I couldn’t be more smitten with it if I tried).

“I have implemented a number of teak pieces into my dining and kitchen space, including the Tolix stools and chairs as well as the wall shelves that my husband made,” Mia tells me. “The teak pieces bring warmth to the space”.

The shelves are perhaps my fave part of this space (besides the bold use of colour, of course). They are definitely the talking point of the room and give it real wow factor.

A lover of supporting local talent, Mia displays an array of eye-catching decor pieces in her kitchen and dining room – including art from Shadow & Shade as well as hand-painted geometric pots from Pots & Prints.

Of the colours in her space, Mia says “I am completely in love with the colour palette of aquas, mints and pinks in my dining room – and can’t wait to adopt a similar one in my master bedroom”.

When you get to the master bedroom Mia – I want to see pictures please!

  • Great blog! I love those planters. Do you know where they’re from?

Hi Chris, thanks for a great page, do you know what colour they have painted the walls, what shade is it? I’m trying to find a “perfect” cool white not loving the warm white anymore we’ve previously had hogbristle & I’ve had enough of it. Thanks for any input you could provide x Cheers Angelina

  • I totally love what she did with the shelves! I can ask my husband to the same in our dining. Thanks for the idea! Nice accent colors too.
