Inside an Opulent Bedroom Makeover fit for a Queen
The Room Rooms segment goes to the next level this week with these gorgeous before and after pictures of Cathy Elsmore’s bedroom. Her home in Paralowie, Adelaide is so beautifully decorated (I’ve seen many pictures) but my pick for best room is by far her boudoir. It’s opulent, it’s luxurious and best of all – completely comfortable, with an ornate Louis Bond mirror I’m currently having heart palpitations over. Check it out and let me know your thoughts!
ABOVE & BELOW: How amazing is the before and after transformation of this boudoir?
“It makes me smile every time I walk into it as I know that every design element that went into it was all my hard work,” Cathy tells me. “I think the fact that I did all of the hard work myself makes it so special to me”.
This room now has a distinctly opulent vibe, one that Cathy says makes it hard to get out of bed in the morning. She’s spent a long time working on the space to give it the sense of grandeur it now possesses, with a monochromatic colour scheme that oozes elegance and makes for a visually pleasing experience.
I’m blown away by the fact that Cathy completed this transformation on her own; paint, panelling, furniture sourcing and accessorising. The result is a very harmonious one that allows the room to be used for sleeping, reading in one of those glorious armchairs and watching TV.
“The mounted LED TV on the wall was my husbands only request when I was designing the room,” Cathy says. I think she’s worked it into the space incredibly well!
Cathy has created an amazing space here by being daring with her wall colour, adding panelling for contrast and not being afraid to embrace her love of shiny finishes. It’s a dream den I’d never want to leave. And would you get a load of that mirror above. It’s just… beyond!
“This room is my sanctuary as I just love coming home after a hard days work and kicking my shoes off”.
