The Creative 10: A Chat with Belle Stylist Steve Cordony
Despite working with names like Yves Saint Laurent, Armani and Ralph Lauren, you’ve probably seen the work of Steve Cordony most on the pages of Belle magazine, where he’s interior design editor. I sat down to put Steve through The Creative 10 – and uncovered his love for New York, his iPad and Beyonce!
When are you at your most creative? “When I am under the pump and have to make snap decisions without allowing myself to overthink everything!”.
Who is the most creative person you know? “I work with so many creative people on a daily basis. The Belle team are all so creative and passionate about what they do. My partner is creative and has a great eye for colour. I also come from a creative family; my dad being a builder and mother used to be an interior decorator”.
What’s your most creative destination? “New York City. Whenever I go there I come back with so many ideas. The city is so full of cool new and innovative ideas, just walking through the streets is creative overload”.
What’s your best creation or creative moment to date? “An event I styled for the Belle Coco Republic interior design of the year awards last year and our nearly finished apartment”.
What’s your fave creative read? “Give me any interiors or fashion magazine and I’m happy. Belle, Elle Décor, Wallpaper, W”.
What music makes you feel creative? “Anyone who knows me knows I’m obsessed with Beyonce so she is constantly on while shooting or working”.
What’s your one creative must-have at home or the office? “My Ipad – I can trawl through blogs, websites and be constantly inspired, all at my fingertips”.
What creative item are you lusting over at the moment? “A new laptop with lots of space – I need more space and storage for all my images and photos!”.
What inspires you to get Creative? “Talking to friends and people within the industry, hearing about other people’s projects and bouncing ideas of them always inspires me”.
What’s one creative endeavour you’d like to try or pursue? “I would love to work on a line of products including rugs, candles and accessories. Also moving into media talking all things interiors would be amazing”.
