Interview: Mr Jason Grant’s Collab with Palm Beach Collection
It’s safe to say that Mr Jason Grant is taking over the world. Not only is the stylist and author one of the most popular creatives in the country, but his recent candle collaboration with the Palm Beach Collection allows him to add product designer to his CV, too.
With a host of creativity under his belt, you’ve got to wonder if his home is a high end design mecca – filled with enough divine decor moments to make visiting friends green with envy.
But Jason tells TLC that he’s not precious when it comes to his home furnishing and enjoys bagging a bargain.
“My home is a real space, its a mixture of high and low,” he explains. “I’m not afraid to mix things together. I have items that i have saved up for and splurged on, as well as things from IKEA they all work in the mix”.
Jason tells me that he doesn’t always buy homewares assuming that they’ll go together, but he manages to make them work in his space.
“We buy things we love not based on how they work together. Of course somehow they naturally do,” he says. “I guess this comes with having a distinct style and confidence. I love collecting photographic artworks by photographer friends and our house is filled with plants. It’s certainly not minimal, but it’s home”.
Speaking of home, I was eager to find out more about how he approaches design keeping his Boston Terrier, Sophia, in mind. Jason tells me that because his decor is relaxed and not at all precious, his little girl feels right at home.
But does Sophia have an eye for interiors?
“Haha not really, but she has great taste in textiles and soft furnishings,” Jason admits. “She loves a good blanket and has taken a liking to the new Islandic sheep skin we have”.
In terms of what’s happening soon in MJG world, Jason tells me that his upcoming book – the third installment in the series – is due for release April next year.
“I’m rather excited to bring something exciting new and fresh,” he says. “It’s really a reflection of my evolution; I get bored easily so this book feels like a brand new thing”.
