If you’re after a professional photographer to snap you, your event or your product, Ryan Linnegar is your go-to man. Not only has he photographed me (and with just the right amount of airbrushing, might I add!), but he’s also worked on projects for popular home and lifestyle clients, too – capturing stunning interiors, homewares, furniture and more!
I sat down with this Sydney photographer to find out more about the services he offers, how he got into photography and to get a look in on some of his best work!
So, how did he get into photography?
“I always had a bit of a fascination with filmmaking and photography as a kid and started taking photos as a teenager with my Dad’s old Minolta film SLR from the 70’s,” Ryan tells me. “I eventually upgrading to a DSLR a bit later on down the track… and continued with photography as hobby before eventually turning it into my job around 5 years ago”.
How did he start Ryan Linnegar Photography?
“After I finished uni I did some assisting work for my uncle who was a commercial photographer at the time before going out on my own a few years later. I was lucky enough to inherit some of his clients after he changed careers and I have built on that since.
At the beginning of 2014 I split the photography and web design components of my business and now shoot under my own name”.
What are some of his fave projects?
“I’ve done work for national and global companies photographing everything from concrete flooring to display homes and christmas hampers,” Ryan explains. “However, some of my favourite shoots have been for smaller clients and business owners, including online homewares retailer In The Bowl, who I did a shoot for recently – and a French provincial furniture and homewares shop, La Maison, which involved some location work in a beautiful old house in the Southern Highlands of NSW.
I also did some work for a hotel chain in the early days which was a great learning experience”.
What are some of the other services Ryan offers?
“As the other half of my business, Bright Spark Creative, I offer WordPress website design and consultancy for small business. WordPress is a leading website content management system and I build small business owners new websites using this platform that they can manage themselves as well as redesigning existing ones. I also offer graphic design and WordPress training”.
