Cathy Elsmore has earned enough frequent decor points to be considered an honorary Creative if you ask me; I’ve featured her work on the blog a few times because she’s a talented cookie with the guts to go all out with her decorating choices.
I'm obsessed with polka dots and I'm not afraid to admit it. Personally I think they far surpass the fading fad of chevron and are far more classic than a stripe will ever be. Polka dots are fun without being too juvenile - and the size of the dots allows you dabble in the trend or go all out.In this post I've shared my top polka dot picks - that you can nab online with just a few clicks (totally didn't intend that to rhyme!).
I'm in the process of moving to Newtown this week, so it was only fitting that I hit the main strip, King Street, in search of a new watering hole. What I discovered upstairs at The Newtown Hotel was more than I had bargained for in the best way possible. Let's take a look at Animal Bar, shall we?
I've been a big fan of Adore Home Magazine for a while now, so I was rather delighted when I was asked to take part in the latest issue, by compiling a list of my fave buys for summer. As with most of the things I adore, the picks showcased high velocity hue and were all a bit fun and frivolous.
A friend of mine recently told me she was at a loss when it came to decorating around her brown leather sofa. She had tried adding turquoise accessories but admitted that it felt a little expected (I have to agree with her there). Here are a few ideas to ensure your brown couch - be it leather or upholstered - is used successfully in your space and plays well with your other pieces.
I love nothing more than connecting with local Creatives, so I was beyond chuffed when In the Cove's Jacky Barker invited me for a tour of the most marvellous homewares stores Lane Cove has to offer. In the space of a few hours we managed to squeeze in many gasp-worthy moments across three great stores - each of which was uniquely different from the other!
Rules are such a snooze. You know, blue and green should never be seen and all that jazz. Sure, the colour wheel does dictate that certain hues are complimentary while others are not ideal together, but there are ways you can ignore these rules when it comes to home decor and colour clash with ease. It can all work wonderfully if you keep a few simple concepts (not rules) in mind. Let me get on my tutorial glasses for this educational experience.
When I attended this week's Cotton On Open House event, Mother Nature was again in fine form - beaming down some glorious golden rays (she's been in such a good mood lately!). And when I use the term 'open house' I actually mean it; the event took place inside and on the lawn of a glorious home in Point Piper. It was all rather amazing. Not only did I star spot Didier Cohen and papp the lovely Lara Bingle, but I immersed myself in a tonne of Typo goodness!
