Another week, another round of on-couch judging from me - the self-appointed and unpaid fourth judge on The Block Glasshouse! This week was all about creating a stunning kitchen, and I must say that the results that had me a little baffled. Here's my fave kitchen of the lot and why it worked so well.
What's a Sunday night without a few good laughs from The Block Glasshouse judges? This week's reveal was all about the laundry, staircase and powder room - with the entire world unanimous on which one was downright wrong. Let's take a stylist's-look at why they did and didn't work.
Designer, writer, speaker, The Block judge; it's safe to say that local Creative Darren Palmer has his finger in many (stylish) pies. In my interview segment, The Creative 10, I've thrown 10 creative questions his way so we can learn more about this industry heavyweight, what makes him tick and where he draws inspiration from!
It may only be the first week of The Block 2014, but I'm already smitten with this years offering! And while I do like to see all the action unfold (although you can hardly call fruit on a bedside table action, right?), the judges walk-through has to be the best part of the show. They are pretty smart when it comes to design, after all!
Update: Read the 2015 interview here: Neale on Belle, Vogue Living, The Block and Partner David. As Editor-in-Chief at Belle, Neale Whitaker is at the forefront of what's hot in interior design. And although he has witnessed thousands of homes grace the pages of the popular mag, he admitted in a recent issue that not every home is to his taste. "...that was a controversial thing to say," he tells me. I caught up with this industry heavyweight and The Block judge to discuss the magazine, his decor secret shame and his take on Christmas decorating.
