I've told you my dream of being a 'good honest country gay' haven't I? You know how every small town has a dapper old gay gent who runs a local homewares store? That's my plan in about 20 years. Apron, glasses on the end of my nose, pencil behind the ear. Very Prue and Trude from Kath & Kim. Anyway, a fireplace in my country estate is an essential part of the plan. It has to be an old brick one like this one from my client's living room. I want a red wine in front of it with a cat on my lap, writing my memoirs. I wonder what the title of my book will be. Suggestions welcome... 🤓

I presented the design concept to my Mount Martha

I presented the design concept to my Mount Martha client on Friday and I'm so excited she loved almost all of my ideas. These Frankie beds from @houseoforange are for the grandkids room and I'm so pumped we're getting some of them. They're so chic, not too 'kiddy' and the colour palette here is bang on-theme with the coastal Hamptons vibe I'm going for. Very exciting! Actually makes me a bit clucky. Surrogates apply within please 👶🏻

If loving fake plants is wrong then I don't wanna be right! How gorgeous and lifelike are these ones? These sublime snaps are from one of @metriconhomes lookbook themes, Urban Breeze. A very contemporary interior design vibe. I gotta say, I think I have Metricon to blame for my faux plant addiction 🤭 It wasn't until I moved to Melbourne and started presenting videos in so many of their display homes that I became somewhat obsessed. That said, I've been researching cat-safe indoor plants (real ones) so I'm thinking of getting a few shortly. Watch this space: dead plants incoming in a matter of weeks 😹 Also, a question: do your pets ruin your plants? I suspect one of mine will so I need to take that into account too.

A couple of things I need to say about this photo. First of all, I wanted it to be a cute 'poke my head around the corner' image but gravity pulled my shirt open a bit and it looks like I've been getting undressed in my clients bedroom. Which, you know, I try not to do most of the time lol. Also, this bedroom is wallpapered, which I'm so happy the client let me do. Please wallpaper more. Thirdly, how good is the art? I selected it from two of my faves. Tap for all the details from this room. Sadly I can't tap my shirt closed, which I'm truly sorry about 🤦🏻‍♂️

I've been helping some clients through the process

I've been helping some clients through the process of making selections for their new-build and good Lord is it hard to refrain from recommending fish scale marble tiles. Their build is quite modern, quite black and white, and so these tiles just won't work. But by hook or by crook I am going to get them into a client home eventually. They also sadly don't work with the vibe of my new apartment so even I can't have them in my own home. A true first world problem! 😭 These are from a Metricon display, btw!

From mood board to makeover ✨ Look, i’m no graphic designer, but I do mood board every single room I transform for a client before we order anything (and you should do the same for your own place😉). Sometimes they change throughout the process until we get it right, but in this case the client loved it all and so if you scroll across you’ll see the end result. Honestly, it might seem a pain to mood board but it really helps give you an idea of how it will all turn out. Have you ever done a mood board? It’s actually pretty fun.

Another little before-meets-after for you. I’ve posted this one before but didn’t show you how the space was prior to me getting my hands on it. The client was never using the desk in this hallway so I ripped it out. And I know I always tell you to think beyond white paint, but here it was really needed. And I really wanted to showcase her family memories in a gallery wall. Really happy with the feeling of this zone now 💓

I’m grateful to have survived the Covid disaster

I’m grateful to have survived the Covid disaster. I’m grateful brands still want to work with me, design clients are still signing up, and that webinars are replacing in-person events. All three pillars of my lil TLC business have continued in these troubled times. Not everyone is so lucky. If you’re struggling, please don’t give up. You might have to press pause on your dream right now but you will press play again. I promise. Just keep going. And thank you to everyone who has supported me through this and through my Dad’s passing. I keep gratitude in my heart on-the-daily and it’s helping me a lot 💓

Sometimes the 'after' just doesn't look as good unless you see the 'before'. Gives the transformation a bit more context, right?! A small but gorg dining room moment from my CBD apartment makeover. New window treatments, new table and chairs, new everything except the floor really. How good are the silhouette shades btw @luxaflexaus. And of course the flowers are fake because that's who I am and I can't apologise for it 💁🏻‍♂️
