Brown Sofa - Oxford - from Oz DesignA friend of mine recently told me she was at a loss when it came to decorating around her brown leather sofa. She had tried adding turquoise accessories but admitted that it felt a little expected (I have to agree with her there). Here are a few ideas to ensure your brown couch - be it leather or upholstered - is used successfully in your space and plays well with your other pieces.

Yellow Decor and Homewares from FreedomI've been a big fan of a sunny yellow decor for quite some time (my business cards are splashed with this hue). Thank the decor gods above, then, that Spring is bringing it to all my fave stores and homewares mags, making it the undeniable colour of the moment. If you're plugged in and ready to play with yellow decor (it would be criminal not to), all you have to do is introduce it into your home in the right way so it doesn't offend your current furniture!

Colour Clash and Mix Pattern - Freedom HomewaresRules are such a snooze. You know, blue and green should never be seen and all that jazz. Sure, the colour wheel does dictate that certain hues are complimentary while others are not ideal together, but there are ways you can ignore these rules when it comes to home decor and colour clash with ease. It can all work wonderfully if you keep a few simple concepts (not rules) in mind. Let me get on my tutorial glasses for this educational experience.

Nicole Fiedler's Colourful Bachelorette Pad - Living RoomLocated just five minutes from the water in Warriewood on Sydney's Northern Beaches is this colourful apartment; the self-named bachelorette pad of Nicole Fiedler. Purchased last year, it was her first out-of-home experience, "So I was very fussy and particular about how I wanted to style the place," she tells me. "Being a visual person, I need to have different shapes, textures and colours to look at and enjoy". Trust me, Creatives, she certainly has it in this dreamy space!

Country Road Dinnerware in ShelfI've sung the praises of homewares haven Country Road before on my glorious store tour. Now, I have morsels of fab news hot off the press. Its freshness is guaranteed and it's 100% fat-free - bonus! Read on to find out more about their upcoming Share Your Space competition, their Indigo pop-up store and their online gift registry. It's a triple threat of news without the shoulder pads.

Temple & Webster Styling Workshop at ISCDIt's safe to say that nothing will keep me away from my love of styling. When I was offered the chance to attend the Temple & Webster styling workshop at the International School of Colour and Design on Saturday, not even the wet and wild Sydney weather could hold me back. Not only did I walk away with the tools to complete my living room look, but I got to meet Temple & Webster superstar (and my personal interiors icons) Karen McCartney. Cue the crazy fan moment!

This week saw me hit the Moore Park Supa Centa, snapping loads of home and decor goodies. I also discovered gorgeous goodies outside of the centre too. Which one is your fave?Greeting Cards from TJ Stationery1 | I am addicted to buying cards. So much so that I have a stack in my drawer just waiting for an occasion to roll around. I was in all sorts of fits of ecstasy this week when I got my hands on these mind-blowing cards from TJ Stationery. They're letterpress ones - printed on 100% cotton paper stock - and I just love how simplistic, playful and charming they are. The Kite and Swing ones are my fave, but there are many more, all with the same sense of love. Too good.

The new issue of Inside Out - available now - proved it by including me as one of its Six Blogs to Bookmark. That is, of course, not the only phenomenal thing about this issue, but it certainly helped raise my excitement levels when I got home to rip open my subscription and flick to page 42 to see The Life Creative mentioned!

Freedom Top Ryde - Red and White CushionsFreedom and I have had a long friendship. I recall saving up across several paycheques as an 18 year old and going to Freedom to get my first real bedroom setting; an amazing bed, tallboy and two bedside tables combination. Years on (I won't divulge exactly how many) I still gravitate toward this homewares haven for the very same reasons I did back then; phenomenal furniture with form, function and fun. On with the store tour of Freedom Top Ryde...
