If it’s one blog I turn to for a good chuckle, it’s Life Love and Hiccups; the work of Sydney-sider Sonia Stackhouse, whose love of online shopping and vodka strikes a real chord with my liver. A mum and wife who celebrates both the triumphs and hiccups in life, I simply had to take five with this lovely lady for my most hilarious interview yet. We discuss everything from picking a favourite child, pitching a show to Foxtel and taking out Tara Dennis.
Rugs are the new cushions if you ask me; they're so affordable nowadays that you can swap them around at a moment's notice when you tire of your old one (unlike when they swapped old Pippa for new Pippa on Home and Away - that was just too big a change for me to handle). The added bonus with smaller, lightweight rugs like the ones above is that you can layer them for a relaxed and casual vibe that still packs a visual punch (and you can score them at a discounted price - read on!)
Update: Read the 2015 interview here: Neale on Belle, Vogue Living, The Block and Partner David. As Editor-in-Chief at Belle, Neale Whitaker is at the forefront of what's hot in interior design. And although he has witnessed thousands of homes grace the pages of the popular mag, he admitted in a recent issue that not every home is to his taste. "...that was a controversial thing to say," he tells me. I caught up with this industry heavyweight and The Block judge to discuss the magazine, his decor secret shame and his take on Christmas decorating.
If you love homewares like I do, you have a stack of magazines that you can't bare to part with. You might also have a distinct memory associated with a particular magazine; one that sticks with you, that unlocked something in you or potentially resulted in what I call a 'magazine moment'. I had mine with issue one of Real Living Magazine way back in 2005.
For so long, I've been eager to become more than just someone who was utterly obsessed with interior design. Recently, while flicking through my Real Living magazine, I came across an advert for iscd (international school of colour + design). I took the first step toward my dream of becoming a fully-fledged stylist and shot them an email.
