Confession time: I tend to buy plants with the best of intentions and months later I'm bidding them adieu as they go to garden heaven. But now I'm going to curb my bad habits and become a summer garden expert (don't doubt me) and these tips from landscape designer Matt Leacy are the start of my education. Spend some time on your garden now, Matt says, and you'll be spending summer amongst lush greenery. Read on for his expert tips.
1 | I had my socks rocked off this week when I got my hands on this amazing trio of concrete candle holders from Melbourne company Sarai Homewares. Available in a range of colours - including neon - these three holders are made and set in recycled moulds, which is all rather environmentally friendly! The company also stocks my other love - cushions - and more!
This week saw me hit the Moore Park Supa Centa, snapping loads of home and decor goodies. I also discovered gorgeous goodies outside of the centre too. Which one is your fave?1 | I am addicted to buying cards. So much so that I have a stack in my drawer just waiting for an occasion to roll around. I was in all sorts of fits of ecstasy this week when I got my hands on these mind-blowing cards from TJ Stationery. They're letterpress ones - printed on 100% cotton paper stock - and I just love how simplistic, playful and charming they are. The Kite and Swing ones are my fave, but there are many more, all with the same sense of love. Too good.
I really am a bad Sydney-sider. I continue to write blog posts that start with a "I can't believe this place has been under my nose the entire time" type vibe. It's sad but it's true, and it happened to me once again recently as I was strolling down Bourke Street in Surry Hills and saw the flora outside Garlands calling my name. I stopped for a moment, ensured my heart was still beating and high-tailed it in there - camera in hand, as always.
If it's one thing Mumma Creative has been telling me for years, it's that brights and whites don't mix. While this is of course true when it comes to washing your clothes (if I find one more pink shirt!) the same cannot be said for home decor.
If there's a homewares store that's not stocking neon decor at the moment, I certainly haven't come across it. This fantastic fad is trending hard and with good reason; it's a great way to inject some wow factor to an otherwise so-so colour scheme. Shall we have a look at some successful neon decorating ideas and where you can get them? Yes, we shall!
