I'm not quite sure what the colours purple and yellow would be called if they were a Hollywood power couple (Yurple?), but I do know this: they are, undoubtedly, a tonal match made in heaven. And it's not even my love of bold colours speaking, Creatives, it's a fact!
Freedom and I have had a long friendship. I recall saving up across several paycheques as an 18 year old and going to Freedom to get my first real bedroom setting; an amazing bed, tallboy and two bedside tables combination. Years on (I won't divulge exactly how many) I still gravitate toward this homewares haven for the very same reasons I did back then; phenomenal furniture with form, function and fun. On with the store tour of Freedom Top Ryde...
You know you're a home decor addict when your friends send you pictures of the inside of homewares stores, saying "you have to check out this place". That's exactly what happened with Opus Design Co; my friend Jess shot me a photo of the inside of the store via her iPhone and as soon as I got the chance I ran in there to take it all in. It's like a decorative rainbow exploded, in the most awe-inspiring way possible!
Confession time: I've lived in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney for well over six years and prior to last weekend I had not been to The Norfolk. Even after its killer makeover in December 2010 (I know, cuff me and throw away the key). Plenty of people had told me how much I would love the beer garden there - and after sitting in it for a few hours recently, they weren't wrong. Its laid-back, mismatched retro vibe is right up my alley (as are the cocktails)!
Where does one start when it comes to describing Oz Design? While it's been around as long as I have (30 years and still doesn't look a day over 25!), in recent times it's multiplied its amazement factor. When I walked into the Moore Park store for my exclusive tour, I almost needed the store manager, Joe, to slap me across the face to wake me out of my design-induced coma; the current range is that phenomenal.
