Last year on the blog I brought you 2016’s hottest colour couple; red and charcoal. It was a stunning combination of soothing softness mixed with punchy warm accents. Just talking about it has me excited that Autumn is finally here again. If you want to see what all the fuss was about, you can click here to look at the dreamy photos of red and charcoal doing their thing in the bedroom. It was truly something.
Now, if red and charcoal have you smitten (and why wouldn’t they?), you’re more than welcome to rock this colour couple again in 2017. But before you decide on your Autumn shades, let me show you another sublime option. Because if you ask me, this season is all about blush and grey.
The added bonus is that you can win a prize pack in these gorgeous shades from my friends at Lorraine Lea. All the details are the end of this post. You’re welcome! 😉
Blush & Grey Decor Love this Autumn
The biggest selling point when it comes to blush and grey as a colour couple is that together, they’re the perfect blend of masculine and feminine. I always veer toward any aesthetic that achieves this sense of balance, because it makes your space feel well resolved. There’s a great contrast between the two shades but it’s not visually shocking. And in a space like a bedroom, nobody wants to be visually shocked!
The other bonus of blush and grey together is that you can control the dominant tone. Obsessed with pinks? Turn up the blush by rocking a bold feature wall. Or lay out a blanket across your bed like in the photo below. The Ultra Soft Blanket you see here is lightweight but wonderfully warm – and I love the embossing.
If grey is the colour you want to feature more of, go for it! Use dusty blush tones in accent pieces like bedside table accessories, or cosy cushions. Even a pop of pink flowers is a really nice touch against a grey backdrop. It’s all up to you!
Blush and Grey: Versatile and Easy to Introduce
Blush and grey are no wallflowers; they’re happy playing with just about every other colour in your home’s current palette.
They’ll work with black, white and beige. Plus you can introduce mint and indigo tones into the mix if you want to make the look more stimulating and visually varied.
In terms of other materials, warm metallics like copper and brass will work wonders with a blush and grey palette. As will both light blonde tones or moodier brown and black furniture.
It really is such a versatile colour combo. And if you look to pieces in these tones that feel cosy and tactile (like the Harper throw below; don’t you just want to touch it?), it’ll make the entire scene so cosy!
Hopefully your mind is as blown as mine is by the ravishing colour combo that is blush and grey. I love the sense of warmth it brings to a room. And as an avid fan of Autumn (I am so glad that summer is over!), I cannot wait to curl up under a blush blanket, grab a grey cushion and watch some trash TV. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is my current guilty pleasure. I won’t apologise for it – I’m hooked!

OMG Chris these are my fav colours at moment on my charcoal couch and in my bedroom, these colours give such a sweet feeling!! Good choice xx
Love these colours it takes me back to 1984 and my first ever blue light disco – I have a home made (whipped up on the janome by mum) marle grey pinnie with a blush pink batwinged sleeved top underneath. Mum was Knitwit sewing teacher so I could always draft stuff up or show her Dolly magazine inspiration in the days before pintrest. I also managed to team this outfit with grey sneakers and blush pink socks. So on trend. Brings back some beautiful memories and just seeing those colours together brought the joy of my mums memory.
My heart is blushing with lust for these lorraine lea perfect pairings. Coming home to these would make the winters warmers and the summers brighter.
The towels are amazing gorgeous colors, generous sizes & feel beautiful them!
For my 12th birthday my Mum let me choose my own clothes for the first time, and everything I chose was blush pink and grey! 31 years later they’re still my favourite colours and I love how lorraine lea has interpreted them in such a classy and tasteful manner. Their velvety soft textiles are perfect for Autumn, so smooth and cosy, they would be perfect to decorate the living room or the bedroom I could snuggle up with them anywhere, and as my love for the palette proves, the colours will never go out of fashion!
Love love love! Have been searching for a new colour combo for my master bedroom and I think I’ve found it.
Not too many photos give you the feeling of luxury in textures, but these product certainly do. That throw!
The new Lorraine Lea range is just beautiful. Gorgeous colors & amazing quality all at affordable prices that won’t break the budget.
Love love these colors (and actually focus on them in my posh office palettes on my pinterest – check it out https://pinterest.com/singlemamaco). The reason why I love this color scheme, especially for home interiors, is that it allows the use of a pink in a scheme without making it overly feminine (especially important for those with the males in the house!). Mixing the blush pink tones with mixed metallic fixtures, lacquered black doors, and grey, for example, really provide a wow factor but keep a modern, edgy, not-too-girlish appeal in the design.
Love your blog! I am launching soon – will let you know! Single Mama Design Co. @singlemamaco
