  1. Most kitchens have the stoves in wrong place imagine opening stove doors sideways there is not enough room between the island benches , also cupboards are too high for average women to place items in, no thought there .

  2. I loved the same things you did.. but I hate the layouts ..who has a butlers across the hall? The other issue I had with Sharon and Ankurs is the cabinetry not going to the ceiling..looks cheap and not custom

  3. While I agree with some of your comments regarding layouts, the judging also takes into account the finish which we, as observers on the TV, can’t see that well. Frankly I loved the boys kitchen, but that’s just working on looks. It’s very masculine, but I am a man, so maybe that’s why. I do have issues with placing microwaves under benches, to awkward to see into and easy for children to access.

  4. I’m so glad someone put this all down to be read by the world. My husband was sick of my critiquing on the same issues during the show. We are currently doing a kitchen reno and the thing that was grinding my gears was the ‘costings’. There is NO WAY those kitchens came under $30K. My kitchen is no where near the size of those and I don’t have a butlers pantry and my cabinetry came in at $30K. That didn’t include stone benchtops, hardware, appliances and flooring. Very unrealistic.

  5. I agree with everything you said. The only practical butlers pantry was Ankur and Sharon and who needs a mirror in it? I think it is time to retire the judges

  6. Fiirst thing look at if a kitchen is functional is the working layout.
Please have a close look at the working triangle and you will notice in most of these kitchens it’s not there.
Secondly as pointed out a butler’s pantry should accompany a kitchen if need to walk away from kitchen to another room or section no longer a pantry but another storeroom.
Thirdly the pantry if we may refer to them as so in the meantime seem to be too narrow once you open oven door for access.
These kitchens seemed rushed no well thought out, all looks and glamor but mediocre quality for price range of these home be 3 to 4s.

  7. .. and what about THAT mirror?? Ankur and Sharon won a $12000 prize based on a contest – the subject of which was to placed in the kitchen. They bought ab overpriced mirror .. but it can’t be seen anywhere!!

  8. I thought Jenny and Dylan had the family cosy feel in their kitchen. I can’t believe they said Sharon and Anks kitchen was overstyled when l thought Tom and Sarah Js first bedroom had so much going on in there that l didn’t feel it was so cosy and the fire place just sitting there and way too much heat for one room and facing the door way as well .lt will be hard to give off a country feel in the big tin shed additions on the back of a heritage frontage over all its still an award winning show.

  9. I wish they would be more truthful in their costings.
I seems to me that the published costings are the cost of their tradies only. They receive vouchers for the kitchen cupboards from Freedom, other vouchers for appliances that money for trades seems to be the only possibility.
