A Volume-Build Home Becomes a Bespoke Residence
‘Artisanal Luxe’ was the brief for the makeover of this Camberwell home, and as with every project at TLC Interiors, we revelled in the opportunity to play with a design style we hadn’t implemented for a client before.
One of our strengths as an interior design studio is that we don’t specialise in just one look. We don’t repeat the same theme over and over again. Every client gets their dream look realised, and for this project it was no different.
The home was a few years old; a volume build set in one of Camberwell’s many leafy streets. Once we worked our design magic, it became a bespoke residence the homeowner could feel proud of.
The Design Brief
In our initial in-home consultation with the client, we dug deep to discover what feeling she wanted to evoke in her interior. Sophistication, minimalism, a sense of calm, and a nod to femininity all emerged. They became the foundation of the design, and with every room we worked on, we wanted those feelings present.
There was also a strong focus on artisanal design; a feeling of handcrafted, of each piece being special in its own right. It was a less-is-more approach, and so each piece had to stand on its own – no filler objects. It was a lesson in restraint, with everything being carefully curated, edited.
The Interior Design Scope
For this project, we worked on a number of deliverables for the client:
- On the ground floor, a full furnish of the entry and hallway, sitting room, living and dining room
- On the first floor, we furnished the main bedroom, kids and guest bedroom, plus the upstairs retreat
- Foundational changes we implemented included new carpet, window coverings, lighting, paint and wallpaper.
- We also designed the joinery in the main bedroom walk-in-robe, delivering a tailored solution that showcased the clients growing shoe collection and increased the footprint
We very proud of this one, and the client was delighted with the outcome.
