We paint, wallpaper, panel, and carpet. We take care of curtains, artwork, lighting and more. We have all the expert trades to carry out the work too – so you don’t have to lift a finger.

We’ll even return once all your furniture is in place to plump the final cushion and make up your guest bed.

The Work You Don’t Have To Do

There’s a lot that happens behind-the-scenes when we create your dream apartment design.
Here’s just some of the work you don’t have to worry about when you hire us:

The Research

Spend hours online looking at furniture options. Measure rooms and draw up floor plans. Find reputable trades to carry out the work. Figure out which suppliers have showrooms so you can see the furniture in-person. Call them all to book in appointments, then find the best price.

The Logistics

Manage the trades in your home to ensure the work is carried out. Make separate payments to every supplier involved in your project. Organise separate furniture deliveries from dozens of stores, then manage and process any returns or exchanges should issues arise.

The Decisions

Figure out your style. Does what you like actually work in the apartment? Does this sofa go with that coffee table? What size rug is best? Ensure you have the correct colours, fabrics, and patterns in every room. Position everything when it arrives. Purchase and style the finishing touches.


Our Proven Design Process

We follow a proven process when we design apartments for our clients. This ensures the entire journey is stress-free for you (because furnishing should be a frown-free experience!).

You’ll chat to our design director Chris about your apartment via phone. The call covers off what you’re hoping to achieve, what’s currently not working, and the level of help you require.

We’ll also talk about one of the most important factors: your budget. This is so we can ensure your expectations and the project are aligned — and that we’re the right team to help.

Chris will visit your apartment for a focused, practical consultation.

In this 90-minute session we’ll cover off elements like layout, furniture, colour and style, flow, room functionality and anything else that’s currently driving you crazy.

If your apartment isn’t built yet or you haven’t purchased the property, we can do this at your current residence using your floor plan to do a virtual walk-through of the home.

Before Chris leaves, he’ll note down all the design solutions required to fully resolve every room in the apartment, so we know the game-plan should we decide to work together.

If you’re a good fit, we’ll put together a detailed proposal outlining the scope, design fees and anticipated furnishing and decorating costs. Once you sign on, we get to work.

Your investment in the 90-minute in-home consultation is $440.

Once you’re on board, the work really begins.

We develop a comprehensive design concept for your apartment, including 2D layouts, 3D perspectives where required, mood boards for each room, furniture and decor selections, and colour and texture palettes.

Everything has a reason for being there — and everything is considered in relation to the bigger picture. This is presented to you at your apartment with your feedback collected.

If needed, we coordinate trusted trades and specialists for elements such as painting, joinery, window treatments and electrical work.

We’ll also take you to our supplier showrooms to road test recommended products from the design concept – where seeing, sitting on and experiencing something in person can make all the difference in confirming it’s the right piece for you.

You’ll receive a detailed schedule of selections and costs for approval before we move into purchasing anything for the apartment.

We coordinate the purchasing process on your behalf, with options for delivery, storage and installation depending on what your project needs.

Then comes the best part: delivering it all to your apartment, then styling it all at the end so you can see everything come together – read to live in and love.

Hi, I’m Chris

I’ll be your interior designer throughout – from the first phone call to final cushion placement. 

The TLC team and I have transformed homes for over 13 years, and apartment design is our specialty.

Living in an apartment myself, I know the joy it brings, but also the challenges. Think compact entries, double-duty spare rooms, small space solutions, addressing privacy, and more.

Not having a signature style is my signature style. Why? Because you are the inspiration for your apartment. I work to discover what you love and conceptualise your design from there.

We go into every project asking clients for clarity around what they wish to invest in the design of their apartment.

Talking about budget shouldn’t be an awkward conversation.

When clients are cagey about what they have to spend, we are essentially designing blind; conceptualising a scheme for your home that could be way over your intended budget.

Or worse, it can lead to us creating a design that contains compromised or entry-level ideas when you can actually afford to invest in a custom/bespoke solution.

As a guide, to furnish an entire apartment, you can expect to invest anywhere from $30,000 to $80,000 depending on the size of the space and the level of finish you wish to achieve.

We often say we’ll be in your life for around four to six months. Our internal process takes a few months, then when we get to ordering furniture we are at the mercy of suppliers in terms of stock and product lead times.

We work with a broad range of furniture, lighting, decor and design suppliers for your apartment — from established brands and specialist showrooms to independent artists and makers we’ve discovered along the way.

Where we shop depends entirely on what your apartment needs.

The goal isn’t to fill your apartment with products from a particular list of stores. It’s to find the right pieces to create the finished space.

Absolutely.

We don’t believe starting from scratch is always the answer. If you have pieces you love, we’ll look at how they can work within the new apartment design.

Sometimes they become part of the finished scheme. Sometimes we’ll suggest moving them elsewhere. And occasionally, we’ll be honest when something has simply reached the end of its useful life.

The goal is an apartment that feels like you, not a showroom full of things you just bought (or old pieces that are holding you back).

Earlier than you think.

Getting us involved before your apartment is completed — and ideally while important decisions are still being made — can help us think about the bigger picture from the beginning.

If your apartment isn’t built yet, we can also work virtually during the early stages.

We have established relationships with a wide range of furniture, lighting and decor suppliers, and where trade pricing is available to us, we use those relationships as part of the purchasing process.

We’ll explain how purchasing and pricing works for your particular project during the proposal stage.

No — and that’s intentional.

We don’t believe every client should end up with the same “Chris look”.

Our job is to understand your apartment, your personality, how you live and what you respond to, then translate that into a cohesive design.
