I’m very excited to share 50 of my fave IKEA home storage ideas with you today. Because, let’s face it, we’re spending so much time inside now thanks to Covid19. What else is there to do but pull our fingers out and get things in order?
Be it the bedroom, kitchen, bathroom or home office, there are a tonne of ways to make each space feel cleaner and clutter-free. Having moved into an apartment late last year, I was faced with smaller rooms that had less storage than my old townhouse did. And so I had to get smarter about how I lived. Small spaces don’t mean you have to sacrifice on storage. You just have to think outside the box sometimes.
You’d be surprised at how overwhelming so much unorganised chaos can be. It can honestly affect your mental health. I’m by no means a minimalist (I do love to hoard homewares after all), but I do like everything to have its own home. And so I hope today’s post inspires you to get the rooms at your place in order. You’ll feel a huge weight off your shoulders when you’re done, I promise you!
And here’s the best part: Scroll to the end of this post and you can enter to win a $500 IKEA voucher. That’s a whole lotta cash to put toward getting your bits and pieces stored and organised.
IKEA Bedroom Storage Ideas
Be it under the bed or in your closet, there are so many unexpected nooks and crannies you can squeeze storage into. Above are 12 of my fave organisational godsends. The links to the products are below.
- First Row: 3-Set Grey Boxes | Transparent Shoe Box | Storage Box
- Second Row: Black Shoe Box | Storage Case | Storage Box with Lid
- Third Row: Vertical Hanging Storage | Seagrass Basket | White Hangers
- Fourth Row: Light Grey Box | Dark Grey Tray | Storage Case
I love the subdued colour scheme in the mood board above (even the cat matches the vibe!). It’s such a calming combination of white, soft grey, beige and black. It’s actually a really good idea to turn down the colour when you’re trying to fit a lot of storage into a small space. It makes the entire scene feel less visually chaotic.
If you have a cosy boudoir on your hands, you’ll benefit from these small bedroom styling hacks.
The other thing I love about the IKEA home storage ideas above is that they’re so multi-purpose. I absolutely encourage you to think outside the box when you’re trying to store things. Those gorgeous felt baskets could be used in so many different rooms at home. And even the transparent shoe boxes don’t have to store shoes. Pop anything you like in there.
Something I really need to get a handle on at my place is unifying my coat hangers. I have so many different colours and materials. There are even a few (gasp) wire hangers in the mix! I love the look of all white hangers, so they’re at the top of my shopping list.
IKEA Bathroom Storage Ideas
Next in my roundup of IKEA home storage ideas we’ll tackle the bathroom. I, like many of you, are living with a small bathroom that’s very tight on storage. Enter these decor gems. The links to all of the products you see above are listed out below.
- First Row: 5-Piece Jar Set | Stainless Steel Towel Stand | Laundry Basket
- Second Row: Blue Basket | Bamboo Box | Suction-Cup Basket
- Third Row: White Trolley | Hanging Storage System | Storage Box with Mirror
- Fourth Row: 2-Set Grey Baskets | White Bamboo Shelf Unit | 5-Set Boxes
The concept of utilising vertical space is a huge one when your bathroom is small. If you can squeeze in a trolley or caddy, by all means do so. But if you can’t even fit that in, you gotta get things off the floor. And so you really have to turn to solutions like hooks on walls, storage systems on the back of the door, and lightweight items you can easily move around (like that genius towel drying system above – so portable).
I also like the idea of bringing materials like bamboo into the bathroom. With all the tiles and ceramics in a room like this, the entire space can feel pretty cold pretty quickly. Adding in some warm timbers is a great way to create a sense of balance. Same goes for displaying soft towels and baskets. They’ll definitely make the bathroom feel less clinical.

IKEA Kitchen Storage Ideas
I couldn’t do a roundup of the best IKEA home storage ideas without including some clever kitchen finds. It is the hub of the home, after all, but sadly it’s a hub that can turn cluttered and chaotic in the blink of an eye. These 12 storage ideas should help keep things calm. All the links for them are below.
- First Row: White Storage Box | White Trolley | Pot Lid Organiser
- Second Row: Kitchen Organiser Shelf | Corner Cabinet Pullout | Food Prep Box
- Third Row: Bamboo Cutlery Tray | Pullout Container | Birch Spice Rack
- Fourth Row: 2-Set Net Bags | White Waste Bin | Clip-On Basket
My fave ideas above are the ones that really sort out the wasted space in drawers and cupboards. When I moved into my apartment last December, I was blown away by how poorly designed the kitchen cupboards were. The shelving couldn’t be adjusted and yet there was so much room you couldn’t utilise.
Corner cupboards are another design feature I know a lot of you battle with, so it’s nice to see some storage solutions for those as well. And bonus points to the little white waste bin that you can clip on the inside of your under-sink cupboard. I definitely need me one of those. Oh, and the pot lid organiser. I’m praising the decor gods for the invention of that bad boy.
IKEA Home Office Storage Ideas
With so many of us working from home, I had to include some clever inspo for your office. And I fully appreciate that some of you might not have a whole office. Perhaps it’s a little nook. Nevertheless, the 12 ideas above should help get this part of your home in order. Links to see more of them are all below for you.
- First Row: Add-On Unit | White Pegboard | Magazine Files
- Second Row: Patterned Drop Files | Felt Bag Organiser | Plywood Desk Organiser
- Third Row: White Desk Organiser | Wall Newspaper Rack | Hanging Accessories Organiser
- Fourth Row: Birch Mini Drawers | White Memo Board | 7-Set White Boxes
I’ve gotta admit I’ll always be a sucker for stationery and a beautifully decorated home office. I hate that the modern word is so techy and less tactile. Paper is gone. No need for pens. Forget scissors and sticky tape. Well, I’m still embracing it all and I’m so glad there are so many nifty ways to store and showcase these pieces.
I’m doing more home office content on the blog of late as I know Covid19 is making you hungry for a stylish workspace. Do let me know if you need some help in this area and I can point you toward a recent post
Bonus Tip: Look to pieces of furniture that do double duty. The Storage Table and Friheten Sofa Bed below are great examples of this. They serve an initial purpose, but also have hidden (or not so hidden) storage thrown in too. Such an added bonus for those of you who need it.
I own the Frihiten Sofa Bed and have reviewed it here for you if you’re considering purchasing it.

TLC & IKEA = Trends, Life, Comfort & Imagination, Knowledge, Empowerment & Adaptable! After a big clean out of my pantry and laundry I’d be excited to use the voucher on some of the kitchen, office and bathroom storage products in there. Let me finish my iso clean out projects for some mental decluttering please!
I’d like to support my aging mother and step dad to make their house as accessible for them as possible. This includes IKEA Platsa bench seats so they have a nice place to sit and take on and off their outdoor gear, upgrading the handles in their bathrooms and kitchens to IKEA Eneryda handles so their arthritic hands to slide into and open doors at easy, and turning most of their cupboards with pull out drawers (IKEA Komplement + more) so they don’t have to bend down and into the back of cupboard and hurt them selves.
I would also buy myself an essential for every IKEA trip, a candle Ofcourse!!
A Besta unit is what I need
To store my bits and bobs and all my leads.
The room is empty and so bare.
A Besta unit shall give it flare!
Add a rug, a coffee table too and what do ya have?
An IKEA room, surely overdue!
We desperately need storage solutions for the kids toys. A space definitely feels calmer when everything has a place.
I’d buy some frames for some art I have and some cushions and have a hunt through for what extra storage I need
Doors for the cabinets in our laundry, we used the METOD cabinets but don’t have doors yet. Would like to get VOXTORP doors.
Gonna be outfitting a new home soon and can’t wait! We’ll spend the $500 on nifty storage solutions to make the most of the space! Love under shelf storage, in cupboard storage solutions, baskets and little trollies that fit into small spaces.
To be honest, I’d spend the gift card helping my sister with any form of storage for her new Studio she’s building herself in our garage. She’s worked so hard and I’d love to simply surprise her new nest with some fantastic storage goodies for such a little space.
IKEA 365+ food container. So I can arrange my panty and make my kitchen tidy like how it should be.
I’d get another BUSUNGE chest of draws so my daughters can have matching bedside tables. The white one I bought recently is great I’m sure it will last the girls for years to come.
