Channel an Endless Summer with Cushions from Hello & Behold

Outdoor Cushions from Hello and Behold

I think I’m the only person who loves the cold.

I’m so excited at the prospect of winter approaching that I can barely cope. Heaters on, hot chocolates (red wines) and throws on beds and sofas. I want it all and I want it now. Everyone else I speak to is dreading it though, which means there’s some major denial going on about summer being behind us. Today’s homewares feature is going to help you with that denial, adding an endless summer vibe in your space in the most colourful of ways.

Hello & Behold is a new Aussie cushion brand by Suzie Watt, whose business was born out of frustration, mainly; searching for outdoor cushions in interesting designs and constantly finding very little in local stores. A lifelong sewer, she made it her mission to hunt down outdoor fabrics that didn’t turn mouldy when left on her balcony, and so her cushion biz was born into the stunning designs you see here.

Read on for how you can win some!

Outdoor Cushions - Hello and Behold

Besides needing the fabrics she found to withstand outdoor elements and not turn manky, Suzie has one other caveat for the materials used in her cushion designs.

“The fabric had to be soft and smooth enough to rest my face on without  getting an unexpected exfoliation,” she tells me.

Not only are these beauties soft and colourful, they’re also waterproof, stain and mould resistant. Suzie sprays each finished cushion with a treatment for UV resistance and hand seal  the seams with a water sealant as well. So there’s an obvious quality story here too.

In terms of where these cushions can go, your garden, courtyard or balcony is the obvious choice. I personally think your outdoor space is the one zone in your home where you can break all the colour rules and go wild with hue. And Suzie agrees.

“You don’t have to worry about clashing with other pieces as much,” Suzie explains. “Given a lot of us live in housing with balconies or patios in dull shades of grey and brown – a stylish cushion on a seat adds a life-affirming pop of colour and decorating personality. Plus all important comfort!”.

The added bonus to buying cushions from Hello & Behold is that 5% of all profits are donated to UNHCR; a cause that is close to Suzie’s heart after her travels overseas.

“I travelled through Syria not long before the crisis hit there, so its been quite  heartbreaking to see the lives of so many there shattered. I wanted to find a way to show kindness back to those who welcomed me so kindly”.

I absolutely adore the bright hues and fun pattern in these cushion designs, and think they’re a great way to keep you using your outdoor area in the colder months. If you’re feeling the love too, use the promo code mentioned above to score 25% off in the online store, or check out the comp below and go in the draw to win TWO cushions!

I love the ‘get happy’ and the ‘Girl from Ipanema’, they’re both great! And don’t you worry, winter is the best season by far!

  • ‘Come fly with me’ for the ‘Day & Night’. Both go hand in hand. The pops of colour is sure to spice up any alfresco

I love “The Lady is a Tramp” and “Fly Me to the Moon” because they are impossible to ignore! We have an ‘old man’ timber lounge suite on our deck that we picked up from Vinnies with old faded burgundy/green/blueish seat pads and these cushions would certainly give it some attitude!

  • Fly me to the Moon & Whatever Lola Wants because of the striking, bold colours.

Definitely ‘Girl From Ipanema’ and ‘Come Fly With Me’ – what better way to add some color to these dreary days than with these amazing pieces of art? Just beautiful.

For me it has to be “Fly me to the Moon” because those pops of colour remind me of sunset over Sydney Harbour and “Night and Day” because I see sailboats. Well done to Suzie on such great designs and her contribution to UNHCR.

Girl from ipanema and whatever Lola wants are my faves. Light and bright, ready for next summer. Their macrame hangings are pretty special too. 🙂

These are seriously stunning – I would choose Get Happy and Sway as living on acreage these would really stand out on our deck with lots of green from our block in the background 🙂
