I’ve been an ALDI convert for a few years now and I’ve not looked back.
Every Monday you’ll catch me stocking up for the week, saving a small fortune in the process, and attempting to put my groceries in the trolley faster than the staff swipe them through the register (I usually lose that game, truth be told).
What you might not know about ALDI is that their offering goes well beyond groceries. Every Wednesday and Saturday they stock surprise Special Buys – which are only available until sold out. You’ll find anything from TVs to toys to kitchen utensils during these times. And if you’re as excited as I am by decorating, you’ll be pleased to know that furniture pops up in ALDI’s Special Buys too.
This week gone by I got my hands on some of ALDI’s stylish bedroom Special Buys, and put my own crafty spin on them. The furniture was already super-stylin’ and packed with quality, but you know me; I like to put my own stamp on things. Let’s take a look at the ALDI furniture hacks I worked on below (and wait ‘til you see how affordable they were!).
1. Bedside Table Makeover
I took this gorgeous SOHL bedside table from ALDI and gave it a cheerful lift by using triangles cut from a roll of adhesive contact. The contact itself was only $5.90 and can be purchased at most hardware stores. I only used one roll to complete this transformation.
Because I wanted the bedroom to be a completely graphic, black-and-white style story, I kept the colours simple but made sure the shapes were striking. I’m a little bit pleased with myself and think the bedside table looks smashing!
2. Chest of Drawers Revamp
The SOHL bedside has a matching chest of drawers that I also got my hands on, and the makeover on this piece was equally affordable. Leather details are really on-trend right now, so I wasted no time in ordering some handles from my friends at H&G Designs.
I drilled right through the front of the SOHL drawers (which was a cinch) and popped in the leather handles to give the chest a chic, contemporary feel. Throw in some greenery alongside black and white accessories on top, and you have a set of drawers that are both fab and functional. The total spend for this hack was $44.85.
3. Furniture Leg Transformation
Both the SOHL bedside table and chest of drawers come with Scandi-inspired raw timber legs, but I was after a more graphic look. Enter a can of cheap spray paint ($12.95) from Rust-oleum and the legs got a dark and moody makeover.
As I said earlier, the vibe I was going for was a chic, black and white affair, so I wanted to make the legs pop. The spray goes on in seconds and dries within 30 minutes. Changing the legs on your furniture doesn’t get easier than this!
Shout out to the Sexy ALDI Bed
SOHL Bed Frame Fabric Grey (King $299, Queen $229, Double $199, Single $149).
I should point out that although I didn’t perform a hack on the SOHL bed you see above, it too is from ALDI and features a gorgeous upholstered headboard and frame. Upholstery is one of the easiest ways to bring warmth to your bedroom, so it’s well worth considering with winter on the way.
Style Tip:
Notice how one side of the bed above features pillows stacked horizontally? Give this composition a go when you’re next styling your bed. It makes the headboard the focal point, instead of covering it up. And with upholstery this stellar, you’ll want to show it off.
A stylish and contemporary bedroom makeover for a total of $63.70! (excluding furniture purchased)
I hope this post has given you some food for thought when it comes to jazzing up your furniture. With ALDI Special Buys being so affordable and the makeover being equally affordable, you can see how making your bedroom your own this winter is an easy-peasy experience.
ALDI’s stylish bedroom Special Buys are on sale this Saturday April 29 and will sell like hotcakes. The good news is that you get to preview the Special Buys a week before they hit the stores.

Do you have the assembly instructions to the bed. I have moved house and can’t find the instructionsto put my bed back together!
Hey Ann-Maree. I don’t unfortunately. I think it might be best to contact Aldi and deal with them directly. Good luck! 🙂
Sleeping right is one of the best things you can do for your body. Personally, I am very pleased with my Luxi mattress. The Sleep Sherpa says “You’re really in for a treat by sleeping on a Luxi. It is a one of a kind experience that no other mattress offers” & I agree!
That bedroom is look so awesome with timber floor. Great job!
This looks amazing Chris! You’ve done an amazing job! Just wondering where you got the Melbourne map from? Another Aldi special?
Thanks a lot Penny! The map is from a brand called Mapiful. You can read all about it here: https://www.tlcinteriors.com/homewares-furniture/super-chic-map-posters-you-design-they-deliver/ 🙂
This looks amazing Chris. Just wondering on the quality of the SOHL products. Would these hold up for everyday use or are more suitable for say a spare bedroom type look?
Hey Justine. No need to worry about the quality here. They SOHL products will work beautifully in a main bedroom if that’s what you’re thinking 🙂
Really clever Chris! Those black leather straps totally transform the chest of drawers!
This is so clever and insanely affordable. The furniture sounds like it was super simple and classic and I love what you’ve done to personalise it.
Thanks so much Jess. The hacks were really easy and super-affordable too. You know me; I love a stylish bargain 😉
I love it! Are these items available in ALDI stores right now? Couldn’t find anything online…

I just love the black triangles on that bedside, would never have thought of using a roll of contact – looks amazing instead of all white and boring, Also what is that amazing rug it really ties the room together, and that cute kitty mug on the bedside , Thanks for keeping us inspired
