Australian beach art is everywhere at the moment. But finding a piece that’s truly unique and not like all the others has been the challenge – until now! Read on as I introduce you to the best place to purchase Australian beach art from – and enter to win some for your walls.
Art depicting life on the Australian coast has become a bit colour-by-numbers, don’t you think? It can all feel so incredibly same-same. An aerial shot of the waves. Some palm trees blowing in the wind. That’s not to say these photographs aren’t amazing, of course. But to see a new take on a classic idea would be a welcome change. And the good news is this: local brand The Print Emporium has delivered it.
Their new Summer collection takes Australian beach art next level by doing away with photography altogether. The brand’s owner and creative director, Zoe Bristow, has commissioned painters to bring her coastal designs to life, and the results are spectacular.
Australian Beach Art with a Twist
From Bondi Beach to the Great Ocean Road (and beyond), these paintings capture coastal moments in a whole new light. The painters have taken photographs – many from Zoe’s private collection – and made them even more interesting by painting them onto canvas.
“Each canvas painting is also photographed here in Melbourne,” Zoe tells me. “And then when a customer orders one of my designs, it’s printed either as a stretched canvas print, or as a giclee paper art print here in Australia. We proudly continue to make each artwork locally and use gorgeous timber frames too”.
It’s Zoe’s own love of the Aussie coastline that inspired the new range, which as you can see in this post, is wonderfully varied.
“I personally love a mix of boho, coastal and Scandinavian-style decor when it comes to interiors and bringing this relaxed vibe into a home,” She explains. “Many pieces in this range reflect my own travels around our great coastline. Don’t we all want to live at the beach?”.
Keeping things Affordable
It’ll come as no surprise that I’m all about the affordable when it comes to decor in the home. It’s refreshing to see an art brand operating under the mindset that you can have beautiful works on your walls without paying an arm and a leg for them.
“The idea behind my brand was to create affordable art that looks special and unique, and almost like an original painting,” Zoe says. “But without the price tag of an original painting”.
What’s so great about The Print Emporiums range is that while they are absolutely affordable, quality has not been lost in the production process.
“The little brushstroke details of our paintings were so important to capture,” Zoe tells me. And boy have they been captured. I saw the paintings in-person at a trade show recently and was blown away by how lifelike they look.
A Stunner in Any Space
There’s often an assumption that Australian beach art is a genre destined for homes on the coast. But I don’t abide by those rules. A great artwork is something you can get lost in, or something that reminds you of an amazing moment in time. I’d love several of these paintings for my own abode, and I live in the ‘burbs.
Zoe tells me that a lot of customers think in much the same way I do.
“I have several customers who have bought the Bondi Icebergs Pool print, for example, and told me that it will be going in their workplace. Several corporate offices and workplaces have bought beach-themed prints in the new collection to bring a more relaxed vibe into their meeting rooms or foyer”.
Zoe goes on to explain that the trend of mixing multiple art styles on the one gallery wall at home is on the rise. We’re moving away from thinking you have to lock in one interior style and stick with it.
“If the frame colour is kept consistent, then the designs can be a mix. I work in a shared studio in a converted warehouse in Fitzroy in Melbourne, which has wood floors, hanging plants, and industrial beams and fixtures, and i have two tropical themed prints on the wall behind my desk and they look great!”.
Picking a Fave will be Hard
The competition below is going to give you the chance to win one of your very own Australian beach art prints. But trust me when I say selecting your fave is going to be the hard part.
Zoe finds it equally tricky, but often finds herself coming back to her Bondi Icebergs Pool art.
“I photographed the ocean pool when i was living up there on a day when the sea water was being emptied and the pool was being cleaned,” she tells me. “The interior of my home in Melbourne is all-white, so this one fits right in and takes me back to my Bondi days!
“And also ‘Great Ocean Road I’, – a serene coastal scene of the Apostles. I love escaping Melbourne on weekend’s and taking coastal drives down there along the rugged coastline, it is truly spectacular”.

The SUMMER PALMS I Art Print in black and white,
My artistic soul does excite.
I love the great ocean road print, because it reminds me of home!
What a great picture RIPPLES is. Its dark, and its deep, giving feelings beyond the ocean and beach and evoking thoughts about feelings.
‘Ocean Horizon’ how incrediably peaceful and calming to wake up and be the first thing you look at every morning.
