I’m yet to meet a person who isn’t absolutely obsessed with designer plant pots. You know, those gorgeous handcrafted pots that feature bold tones, pretty patterns and sublime shapes. I might not be the best green thumb in the world, but Lord knows I adore me a stylish pot to house my plants in. And I know you do too!
On that note, I gotta tell you about local brand Toast & Honey Studio, who are absolutely killing it on the plant pot front. With a range that’s both broad and beautiful, I thought it time I find out how the creative mastermind behind the brand, Maria Karandasios, comes up with these dazzling designs.
Designer Plant Pots from Toast & Honey Studio
Toast and Honey Studio was born in 2017, a few years after Maria decided to step away from her role in architecture to get a better work/life balance; spending more time with her family and focusing on her creative side.
Founding a studio that specialises in pots, artworks and plywood decor, Maria has created a cohesive collection in her online store that’s quite modernist in its design aesthetic.
It’s actually her architectural background that influences the brand’s designs, but Maria tells me that inspiration often also comes out of left field.
“Sometimes it’s simply looking at the shape of my pots and trying to come up with a design that would be complimentary to their curves,” she explains. “Recently my two-year old was painting a picture and the brush strokes she used inspired me to try something new!”
Maria’s Fave Designs from the Range
As I mentioned earlier in this post, the range in the Toast & Honey online store is so broad. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a design you’re not keen on, as there’s a colour palette to suit every home’s interior design scheme.
While I’m absolutely obsessed with the Sorbet and Venice pots in the collection, Maria tells me that she’s drawn to a few other designs due to their playful nature and inspiration source.
“I love the Geneva pot as I think it looks great in black. It was also inspired by one of my favourite architects, Frank Lloyd Wright,” Maria says. “I also really like the Cosmopolitan pot; there’s something quite playful about it”.
It Takes a Village to Raise a Business
With two girls, Erin and Maya, and her husband Jonathan by her side, Maria has created an amazing brand. It’s a business that not only reflects her individual passion for bold design, but it’s a product range the public can’t get enough of.
Any creative business can be tough to get off the ground, take it from me. But in many cases, it’s even tougher to keep it going. Thankfully, Maria has the support structure she needs to ensure the brand continues to flourish for years to come.
Jonathan not only works his own job outside of the biz, but takes care of tasks like web development and project planning for Toast & Honey. It’s this support that helps Maria focus on the creative side of the business. And as you can see from the images of her work in this post, it’s a pretty amazing undertaking.
Every Pot is Made to Order
When it comes to creating the designs for her designer plant pots, Maria explains that every single one is made-to-order. I love that each pot is unique and one-of-a-kind, don’t you?
“Once I have an idea for a design, I sketch it on paper,” Maria tells me. “There may be a little bit of editing and I finally test it on a pot. Usually I’ll have the exact colour to try in mind. And usually by this stage, I’m pretty happy with the design.
All pots are made to order. This means that I don’t actually have any already made in the studio, each one is specifically made for each customer”.
If the images in this post have your heart racing as much as mine is, you gotta jump over to the Toast & Honey website and shop away. There’s nothing better than supporting a local creative doing amazing things in business.
So pretty! I think my fave is the dip tease with gold stripe. I feel like my fiddle fig would look so cute in it, it would stay alive just to keep looking fabulous. Wishful thinking, maybe!
Indeed all the pots speak for themselves but I am inspired to change my colour combinations with the dip tease silver pots. I am known as the crazy plant lady so it will be just right in my home.
I’m in love with the black tie pot! It is simple yet unique and elegant. I’ve have a hard time deciding on my favourite colour because they all look sooo good! My front runners would be pink, green and neutral… if it were up to me I would have all of them – a girl can dream! They would all suit beautifully in the home, especially the bathroom as it needs a few extra touches!
In love with them all but have my eye on the black tie pots! The white, gold and grey one! Minimal in design but still oozes lux!
I love the black tie pot the design is a timeless classic that would suit any decor
All the pots look amazing, however the range that really resonated with me was the Ivy pot range. Quite bold and intricate patterns it would really stand out in my apartment and compliment it knowing how unique each pot is.
It’s so hard to pick because they are all sooo pretty but I LOVE the Stripe Tease Pot in black/grey. This simple white and striped design will match my dècor perfectly. Toast and Honey is a great little local business. So happy to be supporting it!
Sooo hard to pick but I LOVE the Stripe Tease Pot in Grey/Black! This simple white and striped design will match my apartment dècor perfectly. But all the other designs are so pretty and tempting .
I have recently painted my entire house a beautiful soft grey colour. I absolutely love the Decho Echo Pot and Ivy Pot in the soft pink/blush tones with Gold. I have a new Happy Plant that would look adorable in one of these amazing pots xx
Love them all… honeycomb in black is my fave! And I’d get the honeycomb print too!!
