Autumn is upon us, Creatives, and you know what that means – it’s time for fresh bedding! But if you need the lowdown on what’s trending in decor for the bedroom this season, TLC has the scoop.
(Brought to you by Nuffnang and Lorraine Lea.)
Last year I reported on the divine interiors trend, Vikings (read more on that here), which is all about using subtle grey as a foundation colour in your space, upping the texture and celebrating the coziness that layering can bring to a room.
In 2016, we’re carrying the Vikings trend on, but for Autumn we’re bringing in a few new tones and pieces that really elevate the look and warm it up. The bedding finds in this post, from my friends at Lorraine Lea, illustrate this new approach perfectly, so let’s take a closer look.
Bedding Trends for Autumn 2016
Colour
When it comes to colour, we’re still rocking soft grey in large quantities. Notice in the imagery here, the Kain bedding set rocks this colour story perfectly. Grey is replacing beige and white as the new neutral, so don’t be afraid to give it a go at home.
In Autumn though, it’s all about warming up your room, so rich oranges and vibrant red tones are being utilised in small doses, playing with grey to create visual interest in your space.
If you’d not considered yourself an orange or red kinda person in the past, the beauty of the Kain coverlet you see here is that you can control the amount of colour you bring in. It’s grey on one side (and decked out with on-trend geometric stitching) and red on the other. Play with both sides and experiment with the different colour combos, proportions and possibilities!

Texture
Autumn is all about layering. And as I’ve explained on the blog in the past, the more textures you have in a space, the more inviting it feels. What’s so good about the Kain bedding set is that there are layers galore for you to cosy up in.
The devil is in the detail when it comes to bedding, too, right down to the premium percale sheets you put on your mattress. Quality sheets are super important to how you’ll sleep of a night, and there are so many colour options available with this set.
As you can see from the photos here, the gorgeously patterned quilt cover is adorned with the Kain coverlet; a great transitional piece that’ll take you from summer, through Autumn and into Winter. Then, we round off the look with the tactile Dakota faux fur throw and matching Kain Euro pillows. Isn’t this scene absolutely inviting?
Where to Shop the Look
As you may know, I’ve partnered up with Lorraine Lea for Autumn to give you insight into their divine bedding collections.
The Kain is a stunner because it’s so versatile, and you can remove or add pieces depending on the weather as we go into the colder months.
The Kain is a yarn-dyed fabric, which means it’s treated before it’s woven, giving it a softer feel and more durability. It also means the colours last so much longer.
It’s all about quality but at an affordable price point (and you know I am all about affordability!).

Oh you totally should Michelle. The bedding is the best. I have handled it myself when I styled the shoot and the quality is stellar (and of course, it looks divine too!).
