Regular readers will know all too well that I’ve been singing the praises of the modern country interior design trend for months now. And thankfully it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
The good news for those of you who love this look is that the new Neale Whitaker home collection has just dropped at HOUSE – Bed & Bath, and it’s inspired by this aesthetic. ‘Contemporary Country’ is how our fave Block judge describes the vibe.
In today’s post we’re not only looking at the best bits from the new range but hearing from Neale on what makes these releases so special.
Added Bonus: There’s a huuuuge sale on Neale’s range right now, with a minimum of 40% to 50% off (plus an extra 20% off that price!). Now is the time to snap up some of the goodness!

What’s New in the Neale Whitaker Homewares Collection
Neale’s second release with House Bed & Bath and MyHouse Australia is packed with new drops that are going to give your home some country edge while still keeping it feeling cool and contemporary.
Here are just some of the highlights:
Three new quilt covers have landed. Exeter in Granite, Currajong in Wattleseed, and the Jervis Linen Cotton quilt cover in Grey Gum. Matching pillow cases (sold separately) are also available.
Snap up new euro pillowcases too, in Granite, Grey Gum and Clay Huskisson. The outer of the cases is made from 100% Hemp fabric, making it stronger and more durable than other natural fabrics.
Sheets, cushions and throws are also available. NW Sheet Set in Clay features a timeless yarn dyed stripe design. Beecroft cushions come in four colours: Clay, Oyster, Pink Salt and Wattleseed. And the Linen Throw in Oyster/Granite is ideal for layering.

Earthy Colours Dominate the Range
The modern country interior design style is all about channelling nature; bringing in all the tones you’d see outside. Think muddy green, rich terracotta, deep blue and a range of charcoals.
These shades play big in the new pieces from Neale’s home collection, which has a focus on both affordability and durable design. There’s even a new tone in this Spring/Summer range, Grey Gum.
“Grey Gum is a beautiful, soft shade that shimmers somewhere between blue and silver grey. It reminds me of my favourite ghost gums, but also conjures the horizon of the ocean here on the NSW South Coast,” Neale explains.
The earthy tones in these new pieces are contrasted beautifully with crisp white and soothing oyster to keep the overall vibe nature-inspired, but still light and fresh.

Patterns and Materials Are the Heroes as Well
I’ve said it before when it comes to making the modern country interior design style work; pattern and material are so important. The pattern brings the interest, the materials bring the comfort.
Luckily in Neale’s new home collection you get both. Not only are there a charming array of stripes across the quilt covers, pillows, sheets, towels and cushions, but loads of tactility in the materials.
“The collection is made from all-natural fabrics, including – for the first time – Hemp,” Neale says. Additional materials like linen and pure cotton feature in the soft furnishings.
You’ll notice design elements like fringing on the edges of some pieces and stitching in coverlets which brings an added element of interest.

Mix and Match Pieces for a Tailor-Made Look
One of the best things about the Neale’s new home collection (and the ones in his first release) is that you can mix and match them to create your own unique look.
“Mix Grey Gum with Granite or Oyster for a cool palette, or team it with Wattleseed for a palette that suggests the beauty of an Australian summer,” Neale advises.
As the bed linen pieces are purchased separately, it allows you to mix all the colours together on your bedscape if you want to. It’s such a clever way to keep things feeling continually fresh.
Buy two different sheet sets and quilt covers, for example, and then have a play to see what individual look you can create! Add in some new cushions and throws from the range and you’re set!
