You’ll Die: New Scandi Homewares have hit Australia!

Scandi homewares are never going out of style. You heard it here first! I love the subdued nature of this interior aesthetic and I also love the more recent takes on it, where dusty blues and pinks are brought into the mix and lustrous metallics are allowed to shine amongst neutral tones.

When I discovered that new online homewares store, Room to Decorate, stocked such glorious Scandi pieces, I thought all my white Christmases had come at once! I had to sit down with its founder, Dianne Fischer, to find out more about this to-die-for den of Nordic treasures.

So why did Dianne start Room to Decorate?

Because I love Scandinavian inspired decor and wanted to share my passion with the rest of Sydney,” she tells me. “Especially people in my local area which may have never considered this style before”.

The good news is that Room to Decorate ships Australia-wide, so getting your hands on dreamy Scandi decor is as easy as hitting the website.

I was most pleasantly surprised to find out that Dianne stocks Bloomingville decor – an international brand I stumbled across a few months back and absolutely fell in love with.

“I have been very lucky to find a whole bunch of Scandinavian and European brands which are happy for me to stock their products in my shop. Most people in Sydney and Australia may have never seen these brands before”.

Like me, Dianne is a fan of the clean lines, timeless design and no-fuss qualities present in the Scandi aesthetic.

“I love simple, geometric, shapes and patterns,” she explains. “I love the use of colour, pattern and texture but with restraint. I love bringing warmth into a room which a touch of timber here and there”.

Only two months old, Room to Decorate is going to blow your mind. Dianne has filled the online store with so many unique piece that you’ll truly find them hard to knock back. She also only stocks homewares that she would have in her own home and allows locals to stop by her premises (by appointment) to check them out in person if need be.

“I do realise that people may not be familiar with the brands I stock, and as I do not have a storefront where people can walk in, I wanted to still provide my customers with an opportunity to look at and touch products that they may be interested in”.

Dianne is also soon to pop up at a few local markets, which I’m positive will only see the brand achieve further greatness!

  1. Oh the copper pipe 6 candle holder looks funky/industrial and would sparkle in the candle light definitely a statement piece on thevtable at any dinner party

  2. Oh gosh it is such a divine site! I love so many items. I adore the Bloomingville copper coloured glass votive / candle holders (perfect for the current metallic trend) and I think they would look fabulous with the beautiful Bloomingville white porcelain vase and the Laboratory amber brown reagent bottles! I would love to arrange them together on my dining room table – just divine!

  3. My partner is a massive ABBA fan and so likes to add a splash of Scandinavia to our home, unfortunately his idea of Scandinavian homewares is to accessorize our home with somewhat tacky blue and yellow items (the colour of the Swedish flag). I slowly move the blue and yellow items into drawers, cupboards, anywhere out of sight really. I am loving the Bloomingville brass-copper coloured glass squat vase, which I can introduce into our home and make it clear that this is a true taste of stylish Scandinavian homeware, but I know he would go for Velvet square cushion in “wattle” (yellow) and one in “ink”(blue), which actually I quite like as well.

  4. The unframed prints are so cute, the first time I’ve ever given Grumpy cat a second thought that’s for sure. I’d love a selection of these prints. The pompom garlands are also divine, it’s very hard to pick just one item!

  5. I love the Solid timber long “Box” photo frame with mat for 3 6×4″ images – white – firstly because it looks simple yet stylish and will suit my decor no matter what colours i choose to have in the room; secondly because it is handmade sustainable timber; thirdly because pictures are sadly lacking in my house and that is one of my goals to finally get around to printing out and having photos in my rooms (still have not printed a single wedding photo from 8 years ago, nor printed any of my children yet – bad i know and something which i am working on!!!!).

  6. I’d love a pair of the gorgeous Bloomingvale copper pendant lights … just perfect for hanging each side of the bed.

  7. Getting some ideas to makeover my little mans room from a nursery to a big boy room, my little eye spotted a RAWR dinosaur hipster print! This would be perfect – love it! Lots of gorgeous goodies featured on the New Scandi Homewares Store!
